Bai Shu Hutong No.26

Bai Shu Hutong belongs to Donghuamen District, Dongcheng District. It is the third hutong west of Dongsi South Street from south to north, connecting Dongsi South Street and Wangfujing Street from east to west, with a total length of more than 530 meters. In the Ming Dynasty, it was called "Xiangchun Hutong". It is said to be named after the original big Toona sinensis tree. 1965 During the rectification of geographical names, Mawei Hutong in the north was merged and renamed as "Bai Shu Hutong" because of the same name as Chunshu Hutong in Xicheng District. During the Cultural Revolution, it was renamed as "Article 15 of Ruijin Road" and later called "Bai Shu Hutong".

Bai Shu Hutong No.26, the old house number is Chunshu Hutong No.30. Housing archives show that the hospital is located in a small alley recessed in the south of the west section of the alley, with an area of 130 square meters; To the west of the street facade is a "small gatehouse" along the wall; In the courtyard, there are three ridge tile houses in the north and a platform with a gray roof in the south, with a construction area of 60 square meters.

In 1980s, Bai Shu Hutong No.26 and its adjacent quadrangles were requisitioned and converted into Wangfujing Hotel.

At that time, this humble small courtyard had a nickname, called "Jin 'an seeing Lu off". As the name implies, the owner of "Jin 'an sends Lu" is naturally a gentleman who lives in seclusion in a humble room but takes it as his duty to show virtue. This gentleman is the famous Gu Hongming, and the world calls him a "freak".

Dongchunshu Hutong1No.8

Beijing Dongchunshu Hutong1No.8 Courtyard is Gu Hongming's former residence. Most of the remaining buildings in the hutong were later turned over, and they were basically simple bungalows. This apartment in Dongchunshu Hutong is where Gu Hongming lived after he came to Beijing at the age of 50. It is said that it was sent by someone else. When he was a professor at Peking University in his later years, Gu Hongming's style, which ran counter to the democratic atmosphere, left him a unique stroke in history.
