The following are hard slicing techniques.

① Hard section. This is a rigid slicing technology, which is mainly aimed at the physical underlying resources, among which OTN and ODUk are more representative technologies.

② Soft slice. This is a slicing technique based on statistical multiplexing. The main object is the bandwidth resources of transmission ports above layer 2. Through soft slicing, this part of resources can be logically isolated. With the help of QoS policy, it can meet the performance requirements of different network slices, such as bandwidth, delay, packet loss rate and so on. Typical technologies of soft slicing include VLAN, VPN, etc.
