A brief history of sociology

The historical staging of Western sociology can be roughly divided into three stages:

First, early sociology: the budding stage, 1830s to 1890s; second, modern sociology: the founding stage, the end of the 19th century to the 1930s; and third, modern sociology: the period of differentiation and maturity, 1930s to the present.

Characteristics of the budding stage:

1. Early detachment from social philosophy and natural science, with a distinctive discursive color.

2. Mostly purely theoretical discussions, less empirical empirical research.
