Can leukemia be treated with Chinese medicine?
Leukemia is a malignant clonal proliferative disease of hematopoietic stem progenitor cells. The treatment of leukemia mainly relies on chemotherapy, immunotherapy, biotargeted therapy, and hematopoietic stem cell transplantation. Some may be treated with radiotherapy prior to transplantation. The efficacy of TCM in treating leukemia in general is not certain and there is little data to suggest that it can cure leukemia. Chinese medicine can generally be used to promote further physical recovery of patients after chemotherapy for leukemia. For Chinese medicine, the treatment of leukemia as long as the role of an adjunctive therapy, rather than the main treatment.
