How to treat scapulohumeral periarthritis?

At present, the treatment of scapulohumeral periarthritis is conservative. Oral anti-inflammatory and analgesic drugs, physical therapy, local blocking of pain points, massage, self-massage and other comprehensive therapies. At the same time, joint function exercises are carried out, including active and passive abduction, rotation, flexion and extension and circular motion. When the shoulder pain is obviously relieved and the joint is still stiff, it can be released manually under general anesthesia to restore the range of motion of the joint.

The steps and methods of self-massage are as follows:

1. Press the anterolateral shoulder joint of the affected side from top to bottom with the thumb or palm of the healthy side 1 ~ 2 minutes, and press it with the thumb for a moment at the local pain point.

2. Press and knead the parts behind the shoulder joint with the fingertips of the healthy hand for 2 ~ 4 minutes 1 ~ 2 minutes. If there is a local pain point in the process of pressing and kneading, you can also press it with your fingers for a moment.

3. Knead the upper arm muscle of the affected upper limb with the joint action of the healthy thumb and other fingers, and knead it to the shoulder from bottom to top. 1 ~ 2 minutes.

4. You can also massage with the above method in the case of functional positions such as abduction of the affected shoulder, and move the shoulder joint in all directions at the same time.

5. Finally, massage from top to bottom with your palm 1 ~ 2 minutes. For the parts that can't be massaged on the shoulder and back, it can be treated by tapping.

Self-massage can be carried out 1 time every day, and the effect will be better if it lasts 1 ~ 2 months. When the shoulder pain is relieved but the joint is still stiff, surgery can be used, and manual release can restore the range of motion of the shoulder joint.
