What to eat on the cruise ship cruise travel food strategy

About the ferry travel some about the eating aspect of the strategy, I also want to talk to you, in fact, we are involved in the ferry travel to care about very much, then only after a detailed understanding of the more convenient travel, the following we will go together to see it.

Sanitize! Sterilization! Sterilization!

The two biggest hazards on a cruise ship - infection and fire, so the ship does not provide any items that may bring about an open flame, such as irons, matches, smoking must go to the designated smoking area.

Secondly, all the restaurants on board have automatic washing liquid at the door, put your hand up, the machine automatically extrudes no-wash hand sanitizer (containing alcohol), rub your hands together for about 20 seconds, you don't mind the trouble!

1, beverage alcohol package.

The previous Quantum of the Seas guide stated that the price was reduced for Chinese users and the lowest level drink package was $9 per person per night, but the brochure we saw on the ship stated $22. Since we don't drink a lot of beverages, we didn't buy one, and we're not sure if it was $9 when we actually purchased it, so if there are any travelers on the same voyage feel free to follow up with a post to add to the list.

According to qyer "Linxie", the cheapest drink package is now $22 a day, which can be used at Starbucks

and the Robot Bar (non-alcoholic beverages), as well as freshly squeezed juices and carbonated beverages in the dining room

Suggesting that the current drink package on board has been restored to the same level as the foreign routes. has been restored to the same price as foreign routes, travelers who love drinks and beverages should not hesitate to place an order, if like us not much of a drinker still need to think more about it.

2. Free meals.

The free restaurants on board are mainly Glandy's, Chick-fil-A, Aiken Grill, Silk Road, Sailboat Buffet, Coastal Kitchen (exclusive to suite guests), Sorrento's House of Pizza, SEAPLEX Hot Dog House, Royal Plaza Café, and 270° Coffee Bar. Quantum-class ships introduced the concept of urban dining, a change from the traditional cruise ship three-story main dining room form, of course, the current routes in China is still according to the 5:30 and 8:00 two batches of meals, in accordance with their own batch of meals, go to any of the restaurants can be eaten, if the restaurant is more people may need to queue up a little bit at the door.

Since we have a silver room card this time, in addition to going to the sailing buffet on the day of embarkation to casually eat a lunch, the rest are to go to the Coastal Kitchen restaurant or paid restaurant, so Grundy, Chick-fil-A, Aiken Grill, Silk Road, the four main restaurants did not go to try to make a comment on the food and drink of these several, you can refer to other travel notes to see. Personally, I did see guests lining up at the free restaurant during meal times, supposedly the ship was trying to control the flow to avoid overcrowding in the restaurant.

This is our room card,

Below the SPA suite level are blue room cards, higher level are gold room cards. Quantum of the Seas mentioned in its promotion that in addition to the traditional room card there will be a wristband room card, similar to a small watch, in the room, which is convenient for travelers to carry and use. However, only gold card users are issued with wristband room cards on routes departing from domestic ports, which is a little regrettable.

Sailboat Buffet Restaurant

The whole restaurant is very large, and there are a lot of pick-up tables, but there are actually duplicates of the food types, which are designed to make it easier for guests to pick up their meals from different seating areas. Inside the restaurant you can buy paid alcoholic beverages, free drinks are, milk, coffee, juice, etc., there are also some bags of tea to take. Remind everyone to be courteous to each other when taking food, queuing up consciously, pay attention to clean up the countertop after the operation of the beverage area is completed, do not leave debris and garbage to the guests behind.

Sorrento Pizza House, Royal Plaza Cafe

This is the captain's meeting reception on the second day of the sailing day, and the tourists are taking pictures with the ship's officers. Behind them is the Plaza Royale Cafe. Not pictured on the left side of the photo is the Sorrento Pizza House.

This is the free fresh shrimp hot dog that you get at the Royal Plaza Cafe, and it's first class!

These two restaurants are actually connected and the dining area is ****ed up, both next to the Royal Plaza on the 4th floor. Royal Plaza Cafe offers a wide selection of baked desserts, boiled water, coffee, milk (both cold and hot), and bagged tea. Sorrento's Pizza House offers a wide range of freshly baked pizzas with great undercuts and flavorful cheese, and the pick-up counter offers some sauces such as yellow mustard, ketchup, salad dressing, etc.

270° Coffee Bar

This is a photo of the lobby of 270°, the coffee bar is not photographed, please forgive me, it is right next to the entrance of 270°, offering self-service salads, all kinds of baked desserts, a variety of sandwiches and burgers, boiled water, coffee, milk (skimmed, full-fat), bags of tea and so on.

SEAPLEX HOT DOG HOUSE

The small front end of the car is the sign for the Hot Dog House, which can be found by entering the SEAPLEX Multi-Sports Pavilion through the door next to it (not the one on the front end).

The Hot Dog House is located in the corner of the SEAPLEX Multi-Sport Pavilion on Deck 14, offering a wide variety of hot dog sausages and sides, as well as self-serve sauce packets. There is no boiled water here, only ice water is available, and in order to prevent visitors from being scalded in the wake of an accident, these are details that the ship has taken into account very well!

Coastal Kitchen Restaurant

This restaurant is located on the 14th floor, right next to the entrance to the Sailboat Buffet. According to a previous guide I read, the Coastal Kitchen Restaurant was originally only open to Gold Suite (GS Suite and above) guests, and Silver guests could go there for one dinner, but the actual experience showed that Silver guests could also eat there for three meals a day.

Pros: Elegant environment, excellent service, large floor-to-ceiling glass overlooking the sea, relatively less noisy, and big lobsters every night.

Disadvantages: high floors, some slight swaying if sailing at high speeds or when encountering large winds and waves, different menus for breakfast, lunch and dinner, but the menu remains the same every day.

The whole restaurant is American style combined with Mediterranean flavor, so naturally, the pre-dinner bread is also strong Mediterranean style. The bread is very good, my wife ate it and said she liked it

This is the daily lunch menu, grilled shrimp salad and ginseng chicken soup is very recommended,! The other dishes can be ordered according to each person's taste, unlimited, but don't waste it! The menu says no MSG, and the ginseng chicken soup is very tasty in the photo.

This is the unleavened flatbread in the middle line of the menu, which I feel is a rectangular pizza made of thin, crispy slices of bread, cut into six equal portions for easy consumption, and I've already eaten two slices of it in the photo, and the cheese flavor is great!

Compared to the free lobster tails offered by other free restaurants on the last sailing day, this one is called real lobster!!!!! And, it's in the Coastal Kitchen restaurant every night!

Except for the silver ear soup, which is a Chinese dessert, all the other western desserts are sweet to the point of being heavy, so don't miss it if you have a sweet tooth!

3. Chargeable catering.

Mainly Wonderland Wonderland Place, CHOPSGRILLE Steakhouse, Chef'stable Chef's Table (inside the steakhouse), IZUMI Izumi Japanese Restaurant, Jamie

Oliver's Italian Restaurant, and various bars. I'll be putting up some high-energy food photos for each restaurant we went to, so HOLD ON folks!

Wonderland Wonderland Place

Dinner here on the first night on the ship was $39 per person, and was booked using the app while standing in line in the tent (for those of you who are eager to jump here, please go back to the embarkation chapter to learn how to make reservations). The main focus is the creative molecular cuisine popular in Europe and America, but the taste is on the salty side, so please be prepared. Due to the management of the restaurant, although there is a menu provided, but you can not order your own food, are by the kitchen according to the number of guests to prepare meals, every day to provide almost fixed meals. I think the root cause is that molecular cuisine is very troublesome and time-consuming to make, and if you really order from the menu, it would be very difficult to prepare and manage in the kitchen. Instead of making guests wait for a long time, they should prepare it in advance!

The whole restaurant is rather dark, and everything from the décor to the waiters' outfits is Alice in Wonderland-esque. The photo above is the menu of the restaurant, mainly for guests to experience, with a brush dipped in a little bit of magic water (tap water), scribbled all over the entire menu, after a while the dishes will appear.

The cutlery in the restaurant is all very chic, with "long" crooked forks.

The bottle of Evian on the table is recommended by the waiter, when brought a bottle of sparkling water and this bottle of Evian, eat the checkout only to know that it is not free, we should pay attention to, we must raise the awareness of anti-fooling! The first thing you need to do is to get your hands on some water, and then you'll be able to get your hands on some water, and then you'll be able to get your hands on some water, and then you'll be able to get your hands on some water, and then you'll be able to get your hands on some water, and then you'll be able to get your hands on some water.

The very chic spoon was filled with re-combined olives, and the waiter told us not to bite into them with our teeth, but to use our tongues to slowly push them through, and that the olive juice, which was a mixture of many ingredients, was very refreshing! As it turns out, it was refreshing, but also very salty!

This one was repackaged bacon with a bit of caviar, and it was indeed very refreshing and very salty indeed!

This dish is the one in the official promo video that's covered in a hood and opens up in a cloud of smoke.

This is how the waiter describes it: a hard-boiled egg is cracked open, the yolk scooped out, beaten, then added to the world's most expensive feta cheese, refilled with egg whites, and served with tempura crumbles and a little bit of Thai hot sauce. Delicious indeed!

Check out the video below, please understand that it is slightly dim with limited equipment and lighting conditions! The background music in the video is the music playing in the Royal Plaza outside the restaurant, not inside the restaurant.

The moment you bite into this unassuming little square, the thick French foie gras rushes into your mouth, and it's so fresh and flavorful, it's awesome! Unfortunately, there is only one per person

This dish is filled with fresh crab meat, waffle rolled into the bottom of the shell there is a small grain of freshly ground wasabi sauce, not the kind of toothpaste mustard sauce, the flavor is not so punchy, which is the real "mustard sauce". The green top is guacamole with other ingredients, and the black top is shredded seaweed for garnish.

The green sour lemon is cut and hollowed out, and put into the fresh tuna sashimi, with the chef's homemade sauce, and the white top is made of ice, lemon juice and other crushed ice, very tart! My wife is not a big fan of sashimi, so I basically ate it all, first class!

Entree: Beef stew with breadcrumbs and baked potato. When the waiter brought it up, my wife and I were straight up shocked and confused!!!! The previous appetizers were actually a bit filling when I ate them, as they were all high protein foods.

This dish until the end, we turned on the full power, but also just dropped that small piece of the right side, plus a little bit of the large side, really can not eat, but the flavor is really very awesome, the meat is very soft, with a red wine sauce.

Another entree: pan-seared cod with rice. The top is the bread slices, immediately below the layer is the pan-fried cod, very fresh cod, the bottom is the India Southeast Asia strip of rice, cooked with a mixture of cheese is very strong flavor, with "from more than 20 kinds of spices sauce" (waiter so described) or very good, the sauce should be eaten with curry! The sauce is supposed to be curry-based, mixed with vinegar and a little bit of spice, which is just the right amount of grease.

Continuing with the sweet desserts, the texture was actually good, just too sweet.

Those of you who are attentive will have noticed the little items hanging in the room in the cabin description, and yes, that's what our cruise was all about - our second wedding anniversary!

Special thanks to Chao! Ever since I brought up the need for room decorations and other services, he's been keeping an eye on the cruise line for me to negotiate, and finally settled on anniversary decorations for the room and an anniversary cake. (Of course it was a little pricey, but well worth it!)

The HAPPYAnniversary sticker on the door made our room stand out!

Decorated little wall hanging, Happy Anniversary!

There are also stickers on the dresser glass and a picture frame on the table.

PS. The two bottles of water on the table were free, only on the first day on board, not after that. The two large bottles of Evian behind the photo frame are chargeable.

Back to the huge chocolate cake, when the waiter brought it up for us, my wife was stunned for a moment! From what I observed later, this cake would have been picked up from the bakery section of the Sailboat Buffet for a fee. The waiter sang a song just for us and took pictures of us. Since we couldn't really eat it, we asked the waiter to help us share a small piece and take the rest back to our room.

Once we got back to the room, we saw the cake with more toppings and a plate full of chocolate curls. Let's just say, it did taste good, but the amount was too much!

PS. Regarding the cake, I was charged $25 more than I should have been due to a problem with the interface between the various departments on the ship, which was later successfully refunded.

CHOPSGRILLE Steakhouse

CHOPSGRILLE is a global chain of restaurants, the main is STEAK steak and SEA

FOOD seafood, dinner is only available for $35 per person, each person can order two appetizers and an entree, and finally a dessert! , a generous amount for big appetizers! The chef's table is inside the steakhouse and offers only a dozen seats a day, but of course the charges are high.

PS. When we boarded the ship, the steakhouse was doing a promotion for a seafood buffet dinner at noon on the last sailing day for $50 per person, which was canceled due to my wife's eczema skin, and we had reservations before.

Very good, pure American style garlic bread (savory), eaten with butter, already sliced, but the bottom is not cut off, you need to tear it with your own hands, the flavor is great!

Appetizer: pan-fried scallops, two words - tender!

Appetizer: prawns, because it was so delicious, I didn't think to take a picture until I finished eating it, sorry guys. On the left is a slightly spicy tomato sauce, on the right is a slightly spicy cucumber.

This was also the appetizer, a whole piece of fried bacon, don't you dare believe it!!!!

Dinner at the steakhouse on the last sailing day, wife in a short Chinese cheongsam, beautiful!

Before the main course, change a steak knife, NICE!!!

Standard portion of filet mignon, looks like a small piece, really can all eat, also need some strength! The flavor is awesome.

Take a cross-section to see how thick the steak is. My wife asked me why foreign steaks are so good, and to quote the Italian chef who is the owner and chef of a local Italian restaurant - "Because our cows are born to make steaks!"

Sides for the steak: asparagus and mashed potatoes

Vanilla ice cream, and for my wife, matcha ice cream with a hint of almond flavor.

Jamie Oliver's Italian Restaurant

Jamie

Oliver, a famous British chef, can be found in various food videos. This restaurant is a chain of Italian restaurants he started himself, serving lunch ($15) and dinner ($25). We went for dinner this time and had a great experience.

The little chalkboard directly in front of my seat...it takes heart to make good food!

The Chinese restaurant waiter thought the jamie was a little plodding, but his push to preserve the flavors of the fresh ingredients was in line with what I was looking for in a good meal. The restaurant's TV kept playing videos of jamie's food.

The various ingredients of Italian food hanging in the restaurant, this is not fake, they are all real and can be eaten!

Lesson learned, we just need REGULAR WATER, very chic container.

My favorite - Italian Cold Meat Platter. Tender slices of various cold meats (raw) with olives, cheeses, and parmesan, absolutely awesome! Unfortunately, my wife wasn't a big fan and I ate most of it.

An appetizer that I can't name, the bottom was thinly sliced bread, and the top was something similar to a fish texture, served with guacamole and cheese sauce

The restaurant waiter recommended the Italian rice and meatballs, which were made of beef, kneaded into a ball of rice, deep fried, and served with a mildly spicy tomato sauce, but the rice was slightly hard, which was not a good fit for those of us who are used to eating soft and sticky rice.

Main course: lamb chops. Side dishes were fried pumpkin chunks and arugula. In the black container was the sauce - basil broken up and poured into a generous amount of virgin olive oil - and in the brown dish were very thin strips of radish, tart and flavorful.

The classic spaghetti bolognese is by far the best spaghetti bolognese I've ever eaten, with a strong flavor of Parmesan cheese, and just the right amount of lasagna to cook, it's just a shame that my stomach is too small to fit it in! So the first step to good food is good ingredients!

IZUMI Izumi Japanese Restaurant

Located on Deck 5, just above the Royal Boulevard, it's an a la carte restaurant that charges as much as you order, so cruisers who are interested in Japanese food can give it a try.

As for the various bars, I personally feel that in the China departure route, the staff of the various bars on the ship is equal to the enlargement of the vacation, because the people who go to consume is too few and far between, and many are foreigners, in the end, it is still a cultural difference.
