Transportation folklore in the Xi'an area
Buses[edit] Xi'an is one of the first 15 cities in the country to create a model project for the construction of a "public transportation city."[37] There are about 280 bus routes,[38][39] including four overnight routes. Fares for most ordinary urban buses are RMB 1, and RMB 2 for high-grade air-conditioned buses. Citizens can enjoy half-fare discounts with the Xi'an City One Card Chang'an Pass, and 30% discounts with the Student Card[40] In March 2012, Xi'an took measures to ease traffic congestion and to advocate for public **** transport travel by starting to implement eight micro-buses (three are already in operation), and also planning to build two bus rapid transit (BRT) buses. It is expected that by the end of 2012, the city of Xi'an will have renewed and replaced 750 buses, bringing the total number of buses in operation to more than 7,500, and the rate of public ****transportation trips to 42%.
Metro[edit] Main article: Xi'an Metro
Xi'an Metro Zhonglou Station. The subway has a different logo for each station, and station names are written in Yen script. Xi'an was the tenth city in mainland China and the first in the northwest to open and operate a subway. [41] The near-term plan for the rail transit line network consists of six lines and the Qujiang Sightseeing Light Railway, with a total length of 251.8 kilometers, and a line network passenger coverage of 85.2%, all of which are scheduled to be completed and operational by 2018. [42] The long-range plan includes 15 subway lines with a total length of 586.7 kilometers[43] covering the Xi'an metropolitan area, some of its subordinate districts and counties, and the Xian municipal area. [44]
Line 2, which was first completed and opened to traffic on September 16, 2011, is the first completed line of the Xi'an Metro, starting from Xi'an North Passenger Station in the north to Weiqu in the south, and running through the central axis of Xi'an City. [45] The Qujiang Light Railway, completed in October 2012, encircles the Qujiang New District, connecting a series of scenic spots such as the Big Wild Goose Pagoda, Datang Hibiscus Garden, and the Qujiang Pond, offering great views of the Qujiang River [46]. Line 1, which started construction two years ahead of schedule, is also expected to be officially operational on September 16, 2013[47]. The Xi'an Metro has also begun construction of Metro Line 3, an experimental section of Metro Line 4 from the Big Wild Goose Pagoda to the train station, and Metro Line 6.
The minimum fare for the Xi'an Metro is 2 yuan, which allows you to ride to six stations, and other mileage is billed according to the exceeding portion of the fare, up to a maximum of 5 yuan. In addition, people who ride with a Chang'an Pass card can enjoy a 30% discount. [47] As one of the largest municipal projects in the historically rich city of Xi'an, the Xi'an Metro incorporates a large number of historical and ethnic elements in its design. The Western Han style of wall relief decoration, Tang Sancai textured walls and cultural walls at each station incorporating the history of their location and allusions bring a distinctive character to the Xi'an Metro.

Xi'an Xianyang International Airport is one of China's major airports, with 25 airlines currently*** operating more than 186 routes at the airport (186 routes to 96 domestic cities and 10 routes to 11 international and regional cities), and more than 600 flights landing and taking off from the airport every day. passenger throughput reached 15.29 million in 2009, and 2012 In 2009, the airport handled 15.29 million passengers, and in 2012, it handled 23.43 million passengers (December 2012), the fastest growth rate among the top ten airports in China. Taking Xi'an Xianyang International Airport as the starting point, the 1-hour flight can cover Chengdu, Chongqing, Wuhan, Zhengzhou, Lanzhou, Xining, Yinchuan and other major cities in central and western China, the 2-hour flight can cover 70% of the national territory and 85% of the country's economic resources, and the 3-hour flight can cover all the provincial capitals and important tourist cities in China, which has formed a superior geographic location with unique advantages in the national route network. The advantage of the city is that it has a favorable geographic location in the national route network.
At present, the second phase of Xi'an Xianyang International Airport has been put into operation, the south side of the existing runway newly constructed into a 3,800-meter-long, 60-meter-wide second runway and parallel taxiway, so that the flight area reaches the standard of 4F, and is capable of taking off and landing A380 and other ultra-large intercontinental aircraft. The new 270,000-square-meter T3A terminal, 80,000-square-meter integrated transportation hub, 25,000-square-meter cargo area, 11,000-square-meter VIP area and 12,000-square-meter centralized commercial area are planned, which is four times larger than that of the previous terminal.T3A will be connected to the existing Terminals 1 and 2 as a whole, and there will be a ferry to and from the terminal, which will be convenient for transit passengers to change planes, and integrated transportation will be realized between the terminals. The integrated transportation between the terminals will be realized.
Xi'an Xianyang International Airport now has three terminals with a total area of 450,000 square meters, 123 parking spaces and two runways, which can guarantee trans-oceanic intercontinental flights and meet the demand of 50 million passengers in 2020. It can meet the needs of peak hour passenger throughput of 10,000 passengers and 72 takeoffs and landings, which is more than three times of the designed capacity of T1 and T2; the baggage system can guarantee the peak hour passenger throughput of 7,003, which is four times of the handling capacity of the current Xi'an Xianyang International Airport, ranking among the top six in the country; and the newly built refrigeration station No. 4, with a cooling capacity of 8,350 cooling tons, will fully meet the needs of the 350,000 square meters of the terminal building. The commissioning of the 110kv substation will make Xi'an Xianyang International Airport one of the few airports in China that has three 110kv power supply sources at the same time, which will greatly improve the safety of the airport's energy consumption and operational stability, and provide solid conditions for Xi'an Xianyang International Airport to rank among the top 7 in China and the top 50 in the world, to build a modern comprehensive transportation hub, and to construct a gateway airport to the center of China. The conditions of the airport are as follows
Highways[edit] Highways[edit] No references or sources are listed in this section.
The Xilin Expressway is the first expressway in Shaanxi Province and the first in western China, starting from Guanting in the eastern suburb of Xi'an in the west and ending at Miaojia in Lintong in the east. The total length is 23.888 kilometers. Among them, 16.311 kilometers from Guanting Hall to Jianggou in Lintong County is a 22-width section, with a roadbed width of 26 meters, and a design speed of 120 kilometers per hour. The construction was started in October 1987, and was formally opened to traffic on December 27, 1990. From 2005 to 2008, Shaanxi Expressway completed a total investment of 72 billion yuan, the total scale of investment ranked third in the country, the mileage has reached 2,466 kilometers, to achieve the province's 9 cities and 1 district, 71 counties (cities and districts) access to the highway. The city's territory of 352 kilometers of "m" type highway has been completed and opened to traffic, all counties have access to the highway. In 2012, Shaanxi Province, the total mileage of highway has exceeded 4000 kilometers. It is expected to exceed 5000 kilometers in 2015. At the same time the future of Xi'an will form two high-speed ring line (Xi'an around the city high-speed and Xixian North Ring Road), six to Xi'an as the center of the radiation line, constituting Xi'an external radiation of high-speed access to the cities, Xi'an to the cities to achieve the same day round-trip. In addition, will also form a cross-provincial high-speed corridor, realize Xi'an to the surrounding connected provinces (districts, cities) to arrive on the same day.
Meanwhile the western pioneering decade, Xi'an has become one of the largest node cities in the national highway network, through the territory of the main national highway GZ40 (Erlianhot - Hekou), GZ45 (Lianyungang - Khorgos) and the western corridor (Arongqi - Beihai, Yinchuan - Wuhan, Xi'an - Shanghai, Xi'an - Kunming, Xi'an - Maoming). Xi'an highway establishment of rapid growth, the theme of the urban area of the radiation drive more and more exposed, in a large level to enhance the Xi'an City, Lintong, Yanliang, Lantian, Tuxian, Luochuan, Shangluo and other places in the rapid growth of the regional economy.
Highway passenger transportation[edit] Nowadays, Xi'an's highway network is radiating in a "meter" shape with Xi'an City as the center, and it will be further developed into a "come" shape in the planning, which will make the travel faster and more convenient. It includes the city highway, the new airport line, the second ring road and the third ring road, etc. The third ring road system project will cover the whole route of the city highway. The third ring road system project total mileage of 89.7 kilometers, the total length of the main line 74.8 kilometers. Among them, the East-West Third Ring Road has a new main line of 32.5 kilometers, with 8 lanes in both directions (6 lanes locally), and a design speed of 80 kilometers/hour, and the overall project of the Third Ring Road was completed by the end of 2008. [48] The Xi'an metropolitan area is connected by highways to all of its prefectures and counties, as well as to all prefecture-level cities in the province.
In terms of road passenger transportation, the Xi'an Bus Station of Shaanxi Province, Xi'an Chengdong Passenger Terminal, Xi'an Chengxi Passenger Terminal, Xi'an Chengbei Passenger Terminal, and Xi'an Chengnan Passenger Terminal*** together form a passenger transportation network responsible for highway transportation both within and outside the province.

For railroads, the Xi'an Railway Station first entered the top five of the country's major passenger stations back in 2005. [source request]Currently, Xi'an Railway Station operates about 350 trains, including the 250kM/h Harmony trains and 350KM high-speed trains, making it one of the few cities in the western region that operates trains. Xi'an North Passenger Station has a total construction area of about 331,000 square meters, and its scale is called the first passenger station in Asia. When fully operational, the Xi'an North Passenger Station will send more than 68 million passengers annually in recent years, and more than 80 million in the long term. [49] Xi'an North Passenger Station is an important node in the Xi'an Railway Hub and the national rapid high-speed passenger transportation network to be built. The Zhengzhou-West High Speed Railway is the third high-speed railroad to open in China.
By the end of December 2012, Xi'an had opened direct high-speed rail lines to Beijing, Guangzhou, Changsha, Shenzhen, Wuhan, Zhengzhou and Shijiazhuang.
