Coat Color

Length: Short-medium length. Kittens may be allowed a slightly longer coat.

Texture: Dense and rich, clinging to the body, exceptionally soft and silky to the touch.

Pattern: Dotted or marbled tiger stripes.

Dotted tiger spots: the spots should be arbitrary or horizontally arranged. Rosettes showing two different colors or shades, such as those in the shape of a paw print, an arrowhead, a donut or half donut shape, or a single dots clustered together would be more satisfactory, but this is not necessary. The contrast with the base color must be obvious, with clear and distinct patterns as well as sharp edges. A chinstrap pattern with strong dark bold and smoky texture is more satisfactory. Favors an almost white underside and belly. Spotted horizontal shoulder stripes, dotted spotted limbs and dotted or rose spotted tails are also preferred. The belly must be dotted spotted.

MARBLE TIGER PATTERNS: Marble patterning is derived from the genes that determine classic tiger patterning. The pattern should be arbitrarily random to bring the feeling of marbling, when stretched there is a horizontal pattern with vertical vertical stripes of herringbone is not very satisfactory. For more please refer to the uniform coat color description.

BROWN TIGER SPOTS: Various variations of tan are allowed. The color of the markings can be varying shades of tan and black. The rings around the eyes are a lighter color, and the whisker pads, chin, chest, belly, and inside of the limbs are an almost all-white base color. Seal Dark Brown Tabby, Seal Mink Tabby and Seal Bobcat Accent Tabby: Patterned pattern colors can be various shades of tan. There should be little or no difference between the body color (patterned color) and the accent color.

The goal of the Bengal Leopard Cat Breeding Program is to create a cat that is physically different from a small forest wildcat and has the same loyal yet independent personality as a domestic cat. With this one goal in mind, the reviewer will find features in the Bengal Leopard Cat's appearance that set it apart from other domestic cat breeds and give it special value. A Bengal Leopard Cat is an athlete-type animal, alert to its surroundings; friendly, curious, confident cat with strength, agility, balance and elegance.
