What festival is May Day?
The fifth day of the fifth lunar month is called the May Festival, also known as the Dragon Boat Festival, which is a traditional folk festival. People are used to eating zongzi and watching dragon boats on the Dragon Boat Festival, which is said to commemorate Qu Yuan, a great poet who threw himself into the river. However, it is very special to celebrate the Dragon Boat Festival in the southeast of China and Guangxi. This festival begins on the first day of May and ends on the fifth day of May. On the first day of May, families began to steam "Ginkgo biloba". "Ginkgo biloba" is a festival cake that farmers soak in rice (conventional rice), grind it into rice slurry and steam it layer by layer. The first day to the fifth day is a holiday. After eating, the family will have to wait until the next festival. There is another custom worth mentioning on May Day. On May Day, men, women and children should take a dragon boat bath. Some went swimming in the river, some went out in the rain, and some took a cold bath at home. It is said that washing the dragon boat will enhance the body's resistance and will not lead to acne, sores and skin diseases. There is no scientific basis for this statement, but this habit has been passed down from generation to generation, forming a folk custom.
