What is a DC-DC switching power supply?

DC-DC switching power supply is a kind of power supply which uses modern power electronics technology to control the switching time ratio of switching tubes and maintain stable output voltage.

Switching power supply generally consists of pulse width modulation (PWM) control IC and MOSFET. With the development and innovation of power electronics technology, switching power supply technology is also constantly innovating.

Functions of DC-DC switching power supply chip:

1, a non-isolated power chip, can realize high-voltage buck, boost, buck-boost and flyback circuits, with constant voltage output, power is generally below 5W, and no-load power consumption is less than 100mW.

It has undervoltage protection, overcurrent protection, short circuit protection, overtemperature protection and overload protection. There are two kinds of packages, TSOT23-5 and SOIC-8, which are commonly used in household appliances and electronic consumer products.

2. Isolated flyback power supply chip, built-in 700V high-voltage MOSFET, with primary feedback, can realize constant voltage and constant current output, and the power is generally below 8W, with under-voltage protection, over-current protection, over-temperature protection and over-voltage protection. Commonly used in mobile phone chargers, handheld device adapters and other small household appliances.

3. Boundary control conduction mode PFC controller, the static working current is not constant, used for power factor adjustment, the power is generally tens of watts. It is often used for power factor correction in the front circuit of switching power supply.

4. Isolated flyback power supply chip, with fixed working frequency and frequency jitter function, is externally connected with MOSFET, and the power is generally below 20-30 watts, with undervoltage protection, overcurrent protection, overtemperature protection, overvoltage protection, overload protection and short circuit protection. Usually used for AC to DC adapters.
