Are the Chinese conservative?

It's not about national character, and it doesn't go with whether the Chinese are conservative or not.

It's all about what's in it for them. Change of law, or change, is bound to give rise to new interest groups, and the old interest groups will never sit still, and will fight back to defend their inherent interests. It is in this entanglement of interests that the saying, "The law of the fathers cannot be changed" comes into being.
