The Meaning of Water Imagery in Ancient Poetry

First of all, water nurtures and generates the words of the Tang and Song dynasties. A large number of titles and word signs of Tang and Song lyrics are immersed in spiritual water waves. For example, "Raccoon Brook Sand", "Wave Taosha", "River Passage", "Fisherman's Song", "Water Song", "Jiang Chengzi", "Linjiang Xian", "Ding Fengbo", "Looking at the South of the River", "The Fisherman's Pride", "Raining Bells", "Water Dragon" ...... is difficult to exhaust. Undoubtedly, the water gives inspiration to the Tang and Song words, and provides space for the Tang and Song words to create.

Secondly, water is widely and diversely used in the creation of the mood of Tang and Song words, and the following is the interpretation of several major water images in Tang and Song words.

I. Time Imagery of Water. Water is flowing, the flow of water unfolds in time, so water is still time. Wen Tingjun said: "all the thousands of sails are not, slanting sunlight pulse water leisurely" ("looking at the South River"), in the eyes of Wen Tingjun, the water of the leisurely, into the time of the leisurely. Not only Wen Tingyun, Li Qingzhao also in the "Qing Pingle - yearly snow" said:

Yearly snow, often inserted plum blossom drunk. All plum blossoms without good intentions, won a full coat of tears. This year, the Cape and the end of the world, Xiaoxiao sideburns. I'd like to see the wind in the evening, so it should be difficult to see the plum blossoms.

Li Qingzhao's early years of joy, middle-aged resentment, the fall of the late years, in the word can be seen. "Year after year in the snow" has become the witness of Li Qingzhao's life. The flowing water is temporal, and all living things live in the stream of time. The flowing water is also life, and thus the water is linked to the consciousness of time through the consciousness of life.

Two, the spatial imagery of water. Water in literary works constitute the beauty of the environment, the environment created by artificial incomparable. Tang people have "sunrise river flowers red like fire, spring river water green as blue" (Bai Juyi) and "spring water as blue as the sky, the painted boat sleeps in the rain" (Weizhuang) of the beauty of the Song people have "ten miles of lotus" (Liu Yong) of the beauty of the Song people have "ten miles of lotus" (Liu Yong) of the beauty of the Song people have "ten miles of lotus" (Liu Yong) of the beauty of the Song people. In the Song Dynasty, there is the beauty of "ten miles of lotus flowers" (Liu Yong), the poignancy of "the moon is lost in Jindu" (Qin Guan), the quietness of "moon bridge and flower garden" (He cast), and the look of "the placebo lake, when will it be, the smoky water is overcast" (Xin Qiji), and water as a spatial image on the earth. Water as a spatial image on the earth, the environment into a charming Jiangnan water town, but also the geographical physical space into the art of psychological space. Song people create the beauty of space, really breathtaking to future generations, to be counted Zhang Xiaoxiang's [Nian Nujiao] "through the dongting":

Dongting grass, near the mid-autumn, and more than a little bit of wind color. The Jade Jade Qiong Tian 30,000 hectares, with my flatboat a leaf. The moon is shining brightly, the river **** shadow, the table **** clear. I'm not sure if you're going to be able to get a good look at this, but I'm sure you'll be able to get a good look at this.

It should be remembered that the Ling table for many years, lonely light from the light, the liver and gall bladder are ice and snow. The short temples and sleeves are cold, steady flooding the space of the Cangmei. The first thing you need to do is to look at the West River, the Big Dipper, and all the elephants for the guests. I'm not going to be able to get the best out of it, but I'm going to be able to get the best out of it!

In the description of Dongting Lake, Zhang Xiaoxiang's feeling of water, has been very outstanding. And we also clearly comprehend that water is material, water is spatial, and water is also cultural. Moreover, here, from the water of the smoke wave indistinct stretch to, the words "leisurely heart will, the wonderful place is difficult to say with you" is what? Is that connected with the water of the cosmic consciousness of an empty universe.

Third, the sadness of water imagery. In the words of the Tang and Song dynasties, water is still emotional. In the natural world, the water of the river is going east, endless, flowing water and infinite, boundless and other things heterogeneous isomorphism, so the water is often associated with sad or happy emotions. In the Tang Dynasty, Li Bai had the verse "to cut off the water with a knife, to raise a cup to dispel sorrow", and in the Fifth Dynasty, Li Yu also had the phrase "to ask you how many sorrows you can have, just like a river of spring water flowing eastward". In the Song Dynasty, the words and phrases of sadness abounded. Li Qingzhao's "I can't carry many sorrows" is a household name; Ouyang Xiu's "Sorrows of separation grow far away and endless, a long way to go, like the spring water" makes people read the lingering; Qin Guan's "Chenjiang River is fortunate enough to surround Chenshan Mountain, and who is it for that it flows down to Xiaoxiang" makes people read the lingering; and Qin Guan's "Chenjiang River is fortunate enough to surround Chenshan Mountain, and who is it for that it flows down to Xiaoxiang" makes people read the lingering. Qin Guan's "Chenjiang River is fortunate to surround Chenshan Mountain, for whom it flows down to Xiaoxiang to go" makes people read the sorrow; Li Qingzhao's "Wutong is more and more fine rain, to the dusk, dripping and dripping" is even more sobbing as if complaining. In the Tang and Song dynasties, water as an image of idle sadness, no one before, no one after to get a specific, delicate, personalized artistic expression.
