The creative background of "The Fisherman on the River":

This poem was written around the first year of Jingyou in the Northern Song Dynasty (1034). Fan Zhongyan was forty-six years old at the time and was in charge of Suzhou. In order to control floods, he was observing the water conditions in Suzhou and Changzhou. I saw a small boat in the river floating and sinking in the rough water, and I wrote a poem with emotion.

This little poem points out that people who come and go on the river to drink and have fun only know the delicious taste of sea bass, but they do not know or want to know the dangers and hardships of fishermen fighting against the rough waves through life and death. By reflecting the hard work of fishermen, he hopes to arouse people's attention to the suffering of people's livelihood and reflects the poet's sympathy for the working people.

The whole poem uses concise words, no gorgeous words, no difficult words, no ax marks, and uses ordinary language, ordinary people, and things to express extraordinary thoughts and emotions, resulting in Unusual artistic effect.
