The scale of production and sales decline narrowed

Sedans and SUVs divide the passenger car market
In recent years, China's passenger car segmentation market gradually showed a sedan and SUV dichotomy situation, MPVs and crossover passenger car market share is gradually squeezed. According to CAC statistics, in 2020, China's passenger car segment market, sedan sales of 9.275 million units, down 9.9% year-on-year, accounting for 45.97% of the total sales of passenger cars;
SUV sales of 9.461 million units, an increase of 0.7% year-on-year, is the only sales of all passenger car models rose, accounting for 46.89% of the total sales of passenger cars.
MPV and crossover passenger car sales continued to decline, with sales of 1.054 million and 388,000 units respectively, further narrowing market share.
From the perspective of different vehicle series, domestic independent brand vehicles dominate China's passenger car market, with domestically produced passenger cars accounting for 38.4% of the total passenger car market in 2020; German and Japanese passenger cars follow closely behind, accounting for 23.9% and 23.1% of China's total passenger car market respectively.
In terms of independent brand passenger car sales, SAIC Group ranked first with 1.802 million sales; Geely and Changan followed by independent brand passenger car sales of 1.321 million and 993,000; in addition, Chery, Dongfeng, BYD, Great Wall, Guangzhou Automobile and FAW independent brand passenger car sales also maintained at the level of more than 200,000 units.
