In the Yiwu Top Ten Folk Art Selection, Bai Zi Lantern is listed among them. Tianxin Village of Fotang Town is the birthplace of Bai Zi Lantern, which has gathered many craftsmen making Bai Zi Lantern since ancient times. According to the evidence, the Baizi Lantern, as a traditional art of Tianxin Village, has a history of more than 600 years. According to the genealogy of Wang's family, in 1370 of the Ming Dynasty, Wang's wife used the red clothes she wore when she got married as a bride to make lamps for her children and grandchildren, and since then Wang's children and grandchildren began to welcome the "red lamps". Later, the red paper instead of red clothes, it is glued to make paper lanterns, the shape of four-cornered, hexagonal, octagonal type, commonly known as "artillery barrel". With the development of society, the paper lanterns more and more elaborate, and gradually developed into a variety of embroidery needles on the lampshade with a variety of flowers, auspicious patterns, different forms of paper lanterns, meaning "a hundred prosperous, full of children and grandchildren," so it is known as "a hundred children lamp". This traditional art is inherited by generations of lantern artists.
