Besides classical hardcover, how can books be bound?

Although when it comes to book binding, in addition to the familiar China thread binding, it is the western hardcover technology. But in fact, in addition to the above two binding methods, there are many unique and interesting binding methods in the book binding process. Introduce several types of bindings:

(1) western line fitting

Western-style thread has many forms, generally speaking, it does not need gluing and binding, and it does not need rounding and ridging. There are some interesting stitches in the thread binding, such as reptile-shaped binding.

(2) Binding of special materials

In addition to the traditional paper hardcover cover and leather-wrapped cardboard, books can also be made of wood, metal and other materials: books made of wood have been dyed and worn many times, and then sewn with western-style threads. Handmade books are first molded with American soil and then molded with resin.

(c) Ancient binding-"Byzantine binding"

Hundreds of years ago, "Byzantine binding" technology was a popular binding in Byzantine Empire. The cover material is wood and the outermost layer is bonded with leather. This model takes a lot of time from the initial wood cutting, grinding and grooving to completion.

(D) Hardcover deformation or improvement

(1) Metal button hardcover: Hundreds of years ago, when books were still scarce, many western-style hardcover books had metal buttons, and some even locked them with chains to avoid theft.

(2) Improved binding that enables the hardcover book to be completely spread out: the hardcover book with a real round ridge cannot be completely spread out when reading, which is the same as our traditional thread binding in China. The following method solves this problem, of course, it also greatly increases the time cost in production.
