Yan'an College of Nationalities, formerly known as Yan'an College of Nationalities, was founded in 1941 as a college of nationalities with glorious revolutionary traditions founded by the Chinese ****anese Communist Party during the revolutionary period. At the time of its establishment, the college was located in Yan'an City, Shaanxi Province, and provided education and training for ethnic minority cadres and Han Chinese cadres in the northwest region.

The establishment and development of the Yan'an College of Nationalities emerged against the backdrop of China's need to train a large number of ethnic cadres in order to push the national revolution forward as it faced severe oppression from hostile forces both inside and outside the country. At that time, Mao Zedong and other leading comrades of the Central Committee paid great attention to and guided the founding of the Yan'an Institute for Nationalities, viewing it as an important base for training cadres of ethnic minorities and for national unity.
