What is a Haruhi doll?
Haruhi dolls are also known as "Haruhi Nymphets", "Haruhi Woman", and "Haruhi Monk".
Japanese Haruhi dolls have their origins in the Chinese custom of Sokuhari-nui. The custom of "Sokuhari-nee" was introduced to Japan from China in the Heian period, and refers to a paper doll holding a broom, which is said to make the weather clear up by hanging it up.
It is customary in Japan to hang a sunny day doll to pray for clear weather. Haruhi dolls are called "てるてる坊主" in Japanese, and the word "坊主" means boy, so many people believe that Haruhi dolls are supposed to be male.
