Wang Mang, Emperor of the New Dynasty

In April of the second year of Tang's Wude (619), Wang Shichong was proclaimed emperor, establishing the Yuan Kai Ming (开明), and the state name Zheng (郑). In May of the fourth year of Wude, Li Shimin defeated the Xia army in Huling, Dou Jiande was captured, Wang Shichong surrendered, and Zheng fell.

Wang Shenzhi (王审知)

Wang Shenzhi (王审知) was the founding ruler of the state of Min during the Five Dynasties and Ten Kingdoms period, and the younger brother of Wang Chao (王潮), the military governor of the Weiwu army, and one of the "Three Kings of the Open Fujian".

During his reign, Wang Shenzhi chose the wise and capable, reduced the criminal law, treasured the expenses, alleviated the corvée, lowered the tax, and allowed the people to recuperate. In 925 AD, Wang Shenzhi died at the age of 64 and was posthumously honored as King Zhongyi (忠懿王). After his son Wang Yanjun became emperor, he was posthumously named Emperor Zhaowu Xiaoxiao and his temple name was Taizu.
