Two schools in the field of communication
Internationally, communication can be divided into two schools. 1, the traditional school is centered on the United States, including Canada, Japan, Australia and other Pacific Rim countries. They call themselves the positivist school and believe that their research focuses on experience and argumentation, which is reliable. Western European scholars call it the administrative school. It is believed that their research is based on the interests of the administration. 2. Contrary to the traditional American school, the critical school centered on Western Europe is actually not a simple whole. It contains many scholars' different viewpoints and research methods, and it can also be said to be a faction. One of the most powerful ones originated from Frankfurt School in Germany. Frankfurt School was born in the 1920s, and it is an academic school in the West to study Marxism. They mainly study the role and disadvantages of mass media in capitalist society, and focus on criticizing the relationship between communication and society, politics, economy and culture.
