This is an interesting story: in ancient times, the earth was bare. A man of God named Bang Xiang planted a maple tree by the pond, and white cranes flying from the east built their nests on the maple tree. They stole the fry in the pond.

Because the crane flew away, Li Lao decided that the maple was a "bird's nest" and cut it down. The rotten trunk of the fallen maple tree gave birth to Mother Butterfly, who "soaked" and "swam" twelve eggs, and the harrier helped hatch Jiang Yang, Lei, Long, Tiger, Buffalo and other Miao ancestors. Jiang Yang is the paternal ancestor of Miao nationality, and Mother Butterfly is the maternal ancestor of Miao nationality.
