History and Legend of the Humble Administrator's Garden

The Humble Administrator's Garden, located in Suzhou City, Jiangsu Province, was built in the early years of Zhengde of the Ming Dynasty (the early 16th century), and is a representative work of the classical gardens of Jiangnan. The Humble Administrator's Garden is regarded as one of the four most famous gardens in China, along with the Summer Palace in Beijing, the Summer Resort in Chengde and the Liouyuan Garden in Suzhou.

On March 4, 1961, the State Council announced the Humble Administrator's Garden as a national key cultural relics protection unit (No. 121). With the development of socialist construction, the Humble Administrator's Garden has been repaired and remedied year by year, showing its sparse and natural, fresh and remote style more and more. Unexpectedly ten years of turmoil, the Humble Administrator's Garden became the object of the "Four Olds" and was forced to close.

Since then, once renamed "Dongfeng Park", although still open to the public, but the hall furnishings have been removed. Garden Museum

Built in 1992, on December 4, 2007, the new garden museum was completed and opened to the public.
