What is the difference between svc and svg?
1, the working principle is different: SVG takes high-power voltage inverter as the core, and quickly absorbs or releases the required reactive power by adjusting the amplitude and phase of inverter output voltage or directly controlling the amplitude and phase of AC side current, so as to realize the purpose of quickly and dynamically adjusting reactive power. As a dynamic reactive power source, SVC can provide capacitive reactive power to the power grid according to the demand of access to the power grid, and can also absorb redundant inductive reactive power. Capacitor banks are usually connected to the power grid through filter banks, which can provide reactive power to the power grid. When the power grid does not need much reactive power, the shunt reactor will absorb excess capacitive reactive power. The reactor current is controlled by SCR valve group, and the effective value of reactor current can be changed by adjusting the trigger phase angle of SCR. So as to ensure that the reactive power of SVC at the power grid access point can just stabilize the voltage at this point within the specified range, and achieve the role of reactive power compensation in the power grid.
2. Response speed: The response speed of SVC is 20-40 ms, while the response speed of SVG is less than 5ms, which can better suppress voltage fluctuation and flicker. Under the same compensation capacity, SVG has the best compensation effect for voltage fluctuation and flicker.

Low voltage characteristics: SVG has current source characteristics, and its output capacity is less affected by bus voltage, while SVC has impedance characteristics, and its output capacity is greatly affected by bus voltage. The lower the system voltage, the lower the reactive current output capacity, and it does not have overload capacity.
4.SVG is a typical power electronic equipment, which consists of three basic functional modules: detection module, control operation module and compensation output module. SVG static var generator adopts a self-commutating bridge circuit composed of turn-off power electronic devices (IGBT), which is connected in parallel to the power grid through a reactor, so as to properly adjust the amplitude and phase of the output voltage on the AC side of the bridge circuit or directly control its AC side current.
