What is a squirrel cage induction motor?

Squirrel-cage three-phase asynchronous motor refers to: the stator of the motor for the three-phase loose embedded distribution of windings, the rotor for the cage-type guide bars (because the shape of the guide bars and the shape of the squirrel cage is similar to the so-called squirrel-cage asynchronous motor). Motor in the stator winding plus three-phase alternating current, will form a rotating magnetic field, the rotor of the closed guide bar will be cut because of the magnetic field of the stator magnetic lines of force and induced potential and current, and charged (current) conductor in the magnetic field will produce movement, so that the rotor of the motor rotates. This is the working principle of squirrel-cage three-phase asynchronous motor.

The advantage of this kind of motor is simple structure, no winding on the rotor, low maintenance cost, and long service life. There are many occasions to use, almost used in daily life, factory equipment, ports and harbors, oil fields, coal mines and other fields.
