Development Status of Foreign Traditional Painting and Calligraphy

I think it has something to do with the cultural differences between East and West. Chinese painting is a very popular traditional art with a long history in China. Although it originated very early, it may be difficult for people who don't live in China to appreciate the beauty of China's traditional painting because of its unique cultural characteristics. Oil painting originated in the west. Compared with Chinese painting, oil painting is richer in color, more realistic in image, more realistic in landscape, easier to learn and spread.

Secondly, we should also consider the background of the times. With the prosperity of economy, our living environment has become more complicated, and our taste in culture has also become diversified. The reason why oil painting can blossom everywhere in China is related to its universality. Chinese painting pays attention to vividness, not realism. Friends who like Chinese painting know that in Chinese painting, flowers can be black or red, and water can be blue, green or black. All artistic techniques are only for expressing the inner meaning, regardless of its external appearance.

The above two reasons lead to a smaller audience of Chinese painting, and fewer people really understand Chinese painting and patriotic painting. In fact, for ordinary people, we may prefer to see some colorful oil paintings than simple ink paintings. But now that China's culture has gone global, more and more foreigners are interested in our China culture. Chinese painting also has a certain market abroad. Therefore, the most important thing for us now is not to repeatedly question who is higher or lower in Chinese painting and oil painting. This is meaningless, because it is impossible to tell who is higher or lower in art. These are just two different artistic expressions.

What we need to do more is how to make China's traditional culture take root in today's society in a more vivid and clear way and make more people fall in love with it. Or one day, oil paintings will blossom everywhere in China, and Chinese paintings will bloom at their best in western countries.
