Can floor heating be backfilled with foam cement? If you make a mistake, you may get nothing.
Let's first look at the characteristics of foamed cement and extruded board:
(1), foamed cement. Foamed cement uses the foaming system of foaming machine to foam the foaming agent through mechanical stirring, and finally it is mixed with cement. The biggest feature of foam cement is that there are many closed foam holes in it, which makes the cement lighter and has better insulation effect. However, foamed cement is used for walls or floors with high thermal insulation requirements.
(2), extruded board and backfill concrete. The full name of extruded board is extruded polystyrene foam, which is a common insulation board. Extruded board is made of polystyrene resin, some auxiliary materials and polymers by heating and mixing catalysts. It is a plate-type heat insulation material. Extruded board can not only preserve heat and insulation, but also has compressive strength and moisture-proof performance. Extruded board in floor heating system is generally used with concrete. The extruded board is laid under the heating pipe, which is backfilled with fine stone concrete.
Looking at the characteristics, it is difficult to see whether the floor heating is better with foamed cement or extruded board, but it is generally recommended that people use extruded board and backfill concrete as much as possible for the following four reasons:
(1), bottom insulation requirements. People use foam concrete, so there is no insulation layer under the floor heating, which will cause the heating pipe of the floor heating to radiate heat to the floor below. To put it bluntly, there is free heating downstairs, so it is difficult to get up the temperature in your home, and it is warm and white in the end.
(2), floor heating laying requirements. Floor heating needs insulation layer and reflective film below, and then the heating pipe of floor heating. If people use foam concrete directly, the insulation layer below will disappear, which does not meet the requirements of floor heating installation. If people must use foam water to backfill the floor heating, then insulation boards should also be laid below.
③ Heating characteristics of floor heating. Radiant floor heating relies on the heating pipe of floor heating to exchange heat with the surrounding backfill materials, so the backfill materials around floor heating should have good thermal conductivity, while the thermal conductivity of foamed cement is not good, which makes the heat of floor heating unable to radiate out, leading to heating failure.
④ From the perspective of environmental protection. From the perspective of indoor environmental protection, it is also not recommended that people use foamed cement. Foamed cement is made of foaming agent and cement, and contains many additives. These additives are easy to emit in the case of floor heating, which pollutes indoor air and is not conducive to health.
Therefore, in order to do floor heating for nothing, people had better not use foam cement when installing floor heating. It seems to be practical, but it has no effect and wastes money.
