Fitness Technologies is a name that sounds a little awkward. This elite team founded in Silicon Valley is dedicated to creating a disruptive AI revolution in the fitness and body management industry. Mountain House, on the other hand, takes its name from where the team worked when it started out - a mid-mountain cabin on the outskirts of Mountain View.

The client clearly had a deep affection for the mountain hut as the brand's name was derived from the team's workplace in the early days of the business. The design should naturally focus on the literal meaning of "mountain house", and illustrate the sense of technology through structure and technique. Instead of emphasizing the sense of technology, the design should not confuse the audience. Since the company's main business direction is clearly in the fitness industry, integrating the characteristics of the industry was also one of the initial considerations.

Several different expressions were chosen in the initial sketches, and it can be seen that the negative space design concept was used in almost all of the ideas in this draft.

After roughly sketching out the structure, I chose to deepen it in the third and fourth drafts.

Why I chose the third and fourth drafts above: The third draft was chosen for the simple reason that it could express the literal meaning of "mountain house" while incorporating the initials. The fourth draft was chosen because we wanted to incorporate the industry's identity and retain the fitness attributes. The reason for not choosing the first draft was that although it also expressed the fitness attribute, the design was similar in form to the third draft, so the more different one was retained.

This draft first standardizes the proportions and forms of the hand-drawn draft, and the triangular outline is the optimal solution for expressing strength and stability. This is elementary geometry, so I won't go into that.

After trying different structures and expressions, I found that the idea looked worse in monochrome, and the upper arm, which takes up the largest part of the figure, didn't look good without details to support it. I gave up on this idea.

Next came the initials. Trying to express three elements in one graphic was already a stretch. So we tried to remove the chimney structure of the "house", and these four shapes are mainly discussed as expressions of the "mountain" element. It can be seen that removing the contour makes it simpler to describe the shape of the mountain. Adding the silhouette is better for expressing the H.

The final draft was made because of the clarity of the initials. The element of the door in the hut was removed and the mountain structure was pressed down.

For the tech branding theme it was no surprise that we used blue as the main brand color. Just to make the messages clearer, we added shading in the color graphics to highlight the snowy mountain silhouettes.
