Star Z-62 submachine gun

Star Z-62 submachine gun The development of Spanish Z-62 submachine gun started with the improvement of Z-45. After successful development, it was used by the armed forces in 1963, completely replacing the Z-45 submachine gun and equipped with Spanish army, police and security agencies. Compared with the Z-45 submachine gun, the weight, size, safety mode, action reliability and other aspects of the gun have been greatly improved, and the service performance has also been improved.

The Z-62 submachine gun is still firing a 9×23 mm Lago pistol, which is the standard equipment of the Spanish army, but it is obviously not conducive to export, so the Z-63 with export launches a 9× 19 mm Parabelen pistol. This kind of gun is rare in other places except Spain and Peru.

service condition

Although the Spanish army replaced the Z-62/63/70B with the Star Z-84 submachine gun in the mid-1960s, there are still many Z-62, Z-63 and Z-70/B in use. In response to the attacks of Basque separatist terrorist organizations, this series of submachine guns were widely distributed in the security forces.

1992 during the summer Olympic games in Barcelona, it can still be found that the Spanish special forces and the foreign legion (SOE) responsible for security work were still equipped with Z-62, Z-63 and Z-70/B submachine guns.

During the Olympic Games, even the bus guards were equipped with this series of submachine guns. Now in rural Spain, you can still find Spanish policemen wearing distinctive triangular leather hats and carrying submachine guns on their chests.

Color development method

The gun was developed for the Spanish military and replaced Z-45 in 1953. Previously, the Z-45 submachine gun equipped by Spanish army was developed on the basis of Nazi Germany MP40 submachine gun. Although the appearance of Z-45 wooden butt cylindrical barrel is far from MP40, the structural principle is the same.

Z-45 submachine gun fired 9× 23mm Largo pistol. After the end of World War II, many new submachine guns are small and light, which is too heavy compared with Z-45, so it is necessary to develop new submachine guns. The development of Z-62 submachine gun also began with the improvement of Z-45. After the successful development, it was used in the 1963 army, completely replacing the Z-45 submachine gun.

design feature

Although the traditional principle of free recoil operation is to open the chamber to hit the ball, it does not use a fixed hitting needle. The trigger is shaped like a double half moon. The upper part of the trigger is fully automatic and the lower part is semi-automatic. The manual safety button is located at the upper part of the handle and has a horizontal latch structure.

Push from right to left to a safe state. At this time, whether the bolt is in front or behind, the shaft of the safety bolt will lock the iron block, making the bolt unable to move. If the bolt is fixed in the front, it cannot be pulled back. The metal butt can be folded under the barrel liner when not in use, and can be used as protective wood. The camera door is a tilting L-shaped camera door with two ranges of 100 and 200m. The sight is knife-shaped.

The line of sight is protected by a shield, while the door has wings. The magazine release button is pressed from right to left in front of the retainer of the trigger, similar to the design of M 16. The gun is made entirely of steel except for the plastic handle panel. The center of gravity of Z-62 is very close to the grip, and it is easy to operate even with one hand.
