When is the Lunar New Year?

The 2023 New Year (Spring Festival) is January 22.

The first day of the first lunar month is the Spring Festival, commonly known as "New Year's Day". The Spring Festival is the first day of the Lunar New Year. It is the most solemn traditional festival of the Chinese nation. It has a history of more than 4,000 years and originated from the period of Yu and Shun.

According to the provisions of the ancient calendar, the 30th day of the twelfth lunar month is called the "New Year". When you get up in the morning on New Year's Day, you need to post door gods and Spring Festival couplets. Spring couplets are a unique folk symbol of China. Posting them during the Spring Festival is a very grand project. When red Spring Festival couplets are posted on both sides of the door of your home, it is the time when "thousands of households always replace old talismans with new peaches", which actually means that the Spring Festival has officially begun.
