Cultural Origins

The political form of the Chinese people before the age of Shennong was tribal politics, and the leader of the tribe was the "wu". This statement is very different from the traditional perception, in the history of people's perception of "witch" is superstitious, "witch" is playing God without knowledge. In fact, in the primitive times of the first people, "wu" was a scientist, and "wu" represented the authority of knowledge.

The original era, the ancestors of the knowledge is not open, see the nature of various phenomena, such as the ground on the mountains and rivers, climate change, wind, rain, lightning and so on. Because of the lack of understanding, and the heart of doubt, terror. For these doubts to get answers, only to go to the "witch" to teach. Witch for this phenomenon, after observing, thinking, analyzing and other processes to make the conclusion that the wind has the wind god, rain has the rain god, thunder has the thunder god, electricity has the electricity god, the other sun, moon, stars, mountains, rivers, and the earth are each a god in the master. God dominates the theory, modern people seem too unscientific, too superstitious. But who dares to guarantee that the contemporary scientists on the phenomena of the universe by the explanation, and so on a thousand years later, will not be overturned and accused of superstition, anti-science?

Also, there are two things that mankind cannot handle on its own and must turn to others.

One is physiological, there is no such thing as a human being who is not sick, and when a human being is sick, he or she must ask a doctor to treat him or her.

The second is psychological, people want to do a thing, beforehand, always suffer, think about it, hesitation, this time must ask others to provide advice for reference. 21st century people certainly know, when you are sick, you have to go to the hospital. When there is something indecisive in your mind, you have to consult your friends and relatives, or you have to consult an expert. In primitive times, both of these things happened, and the same person, the "witch", was consulted. This is evidenced by the fact that the ancient word for "medicine" was written as "医", and the word for divination was "筮".

(I) Curing Diseases

In the primitive era, the diseases suffered by the ancestors were very simple. Most of them were gastrointestinal diseases such as diarrhea caused by unsuitable diets, and colds and fevers caused by unsuitable climates. When the first people went to the witch for help when they were sick, the witch initially turned to God with prayers. But illness is a reality, and a patient suffering from diarrhea cannot be stopped by prayers. The clever witch then switched to a dietary approach, picking some plants for the patient to eat. Of course, there is no white mice, rabbits, monkeys to do the test, directly do clinical, is very dangerous thing. So patients eat the results, some of the disease is well, some have no effect, some more serious.
