History of Chaozhou tea culture

Chaozhou tea culture has a long history. It is said that the tea culture in Chaozhou can be traced back to the Southern and Northern Dynasties, when cultural exchanges in Chaoshan area were very frequent. Many tea people come from Fujian, Guangdong, Guangxi and other regions, bringing different tea art and tea culture. In the tea classics of Tang Wan in Tang Dynasty, tea includes: tower pot, round pot, jade pot, blue glazed incense burner, bamboo ware, stone lamp and so on. In the middle of Yuan Dynasty, Chaozhou tea culture was deeply influenced by famous tea people Lu Yu and Wu Zuqian, and promoted tea and tea ceremony. The tea art of these two tea men has played an important role in the development and growth of Chaozhou tea culture.

During the Ming and Qing Dynasties, Chaozhou tea culture was more prosperous, and many tea merchants traveled repeatedly in Fujian, Guangdong, Guangxi and other places to select high-quality tea and transport it to Chaozhou to produce rich and varied Chaozhou tea with strong aroma. During this period, Chaozhou tea culture gradually formed a tea culture with the theme of "drinking friends and tasting tea".

Modern Chaozhou tea culture is rich and colorful, but the most famous is Chaoshan small ball tea culture. Small Ryukyu tea sets are exquisite and have different shapes, which is a major feature of Chaozhou tea culture. Xiaoqiuqiu tea art exudes the essence of Chaozhou traditional culture and art with a long history, and it is also one of the favorite ways for local tea drinkers to taste tea.
