About the uses of hibiscus flowers

Hibiscus is an important flowering shrub in summer and autumn. It is mostly used as flower hedges and hedges in the south, and as garden decoration and indoor potted plants in the north. Hibiscus has strong resistance to harmful gases such as disulfur dioxide and chloride, and also has a strong dust retention function. It is the main greening tree species in polluting factories. ?

Hibiscus has a long flowering period when harvesting flowers. It blooms from May to October, but as far as a flower is concerned, it blooms in the early morning and wilts on the second day. Therefore, picking flowers for vegetable consumption should be done every morning. If processed and sun-dried, it should be dried immediately after picking in the morning on a sunny day.

The genus Hibiscus is mainly distributed in tropical and subtropical areas. Hibiscus species originated from the African continent. There are many types of African Hibiscus species, showing rich genetic diversity. It is native to the provinces in central China and is cultivated in Taiwan, Fujian, Yunnan, Guizhou, Sichuan, Hunan, Henan, Shaanxi and other provinces.

Pruning

Newly planted hibiscus plants are small and can be allowed to grow or be lightly pruned in the first 1-2 years. In autumn and winter, prune away dead branches, weak branches due to diseases and insect pests, and declining branches. After the tree grows up, the hibiscus plant should be pruned. Pruning should be done in autumn after the leaves fall. According to the different degree of opening of hibiscus branches, it can be divided into upright type and open type.

Upright hibiscus branches have a small angle of growth, are nearly upright, have strong germination ability, relatively poor branching ability, and are not tolerant of long-term growth. They can be cultivated and transformed into a tree shape with a main trunk and no layering. Choose to leave 3-4 main branches on the top, thin out the rest, and optionally leave 1-2 side branches on each main branch, which is called a heart-shaped tree with a main trunk.

Upright hibiscus pruning method: rationally select the main branches and side branches, and thin out the excess main branches and side branches in batches to make the main and side branches reasonably distributed and moderately dense; retract the main branches and side branches , the branching angle of new branches should be large and the direction should be positive, and the branches that are too dense on the outside should be thinned out reasonably to facilitate ventilation and light transmission.
