Urgent for a paper on Taiwan Province Province, for 3000 words.
Author: Zhang Hongjie
On my first morning in Taiwan Province Province, I was awakened by the noise of a motorcycle. Pull open the curtain, not far away is a crossroads, dozens of hundreds of motorcycles parked behind the sidewalk, the knights are wearing helmets, the green light is on, a twist of the handle, Qi Qi forward, the motor is deafening. Taipei calls motorcycles "locomotives", the number of which is almost equal to that of bicycles in Chinese mainland. They are extremely fast and keep pace with other means of transportation without humility.
This is completely beyond my expectation. Guangzhou has just passed "no motorcycle"-"no motorcycle" seems to be a symbol of urban development and progress, but motorcycles in Taipei are so "rampant". I introduced the motorcycle ban policy to Professor Du of Taiwan Province Provincial University, a scholar from Taiwan Province Province, and asked if Taipei had considered it.
Professor Du was surprised. He said, how is that possible? This is the people's right to travel! Locomotive has many shortcomings, such as loud noise, unsafe and heavy pollution. However, it is convenient, occupies less roads and has a low price. Have you considered who is the person who uses motorcycles? Mainly low-and middle-income people. This alone cannot be prohibited. Because when formulating public policies, priority should be given to the interests of vulnerable groups. You banned it. They can't afford a car. What should we do?
Price level: the price of agricultural products is high and the tickets for scenic spots are low.
Prices in Taipei are very expensive. An ordinary Fuji apple costs NT$ 30, which is about RMB 7 yuan. A mango "grain" of 60 yuan, RMB 15. In order to protect the interests of fruit farmers, fruits in this big fruit province are not cheap at all.
As for the prices of other daily necessities, they are basically about three times as high as those in the mainland. A bottle of purified water is NT$ 25 yuan, which is about RMB 6 yuan. Books are ridiculously expensive The price of my Seven Faces of the Ming Dynasty in 28 yuan and Taiwan Province Province is 480 Taiwan dollars, which is equivalent to 120 yuan.
However, some prices are cheaper than those in Chinese mainland, such as tickets for scenic spots and museums. After the meeting, Professor Zeng from the university drove us to yehliu geopark. Here is the wind-eroded coast, and there are mushrooms everywhere. The scenery is beautiful and unique, which can be compared with the stone forest in the mainland. The fare is NT$ 40, which is about 10 yuan RMB.
Scenic spots and museums are "public goods" belonging to all citizens and should benefit all citizens, especially "vulnerable groups". In contrast, for urban low-income people such as farmers and laid-off workers, are the tickets for most scenic spots and museums in mainland China too high?
Why can the poor in Taiwan Province Province enjoy these "public goods"? There is a simple reason. In Taiwan Province Province, no matter how poor a person is, he has the same voting right as those billionaires.
Things at the train station are the same as those outside.
When I was visiting yehliu geopark, what impressed me the most was that there was such a large scenic spot, and there were no stalls selling tourist souvenirs and no mobile vendors. No one sells souvenirs to you, no one takes pictures of you, pestering you to ride a motorcycle on the beach ... all you see is clear water and wonderful stones created by nature. All you can hear is wind and waves. The whole beach is quiet and comfortable.
On March 6th, I took a train from Taipei to Kaohsiung. Before going to the railway station, I carried a heavy bag, first went to the supermarket to buy water, and then went to the street to buy a "lunch box" (lunch box). According to my experience, these things will double as soon as they enter the station. When I arrived at the station, I was surprised to find that the price in the station was not more expensive than that in the supermarket. When you get on the bus, the "box lunch" on the trolley is also the same price as outside. For the first time in my life, I know that things in the train station can be as expensive as those outside.
Kindness contributes to business success.
Woke up by a motorcycle, I went to the manager of the hostel, a thin woman in her fifties. She checked my room and found that there was a small window on it that was not closed. She bravely stepped on the desk and chair to turn it off, and then kept saying sorry to me.
The next morning, she went to my room to ask how she had a rest last night. I said no problem. She suddenly bowed to me 90 degrees and repeatedly said, thank you! I'm sorry about yesterday!
After meeting me every day, she would ask me how I was resting and then bow to me, which made me very uncomfortable.
Most businesses in Taipei, from shopping malls to food stalls, will say thank you after receiving the payment. When you give your change, many people return it with both hands.
There are no "rounds" when staying and checking out in hotels in Taiwan Province Province.
Traditional culture is well preserved and traditional festivals have a strong atmosphere.
During my visit to Taiwan Province Province, I paid attention to the living conditions of "traditional culture" in Taiwan Province Province.
March 4th is the Lantern Festival. On this day, the streets of Taipei are very lively. A grand lantern festival was held in Taipei, and many literary and art groups took to the streets to perform. At noon that day, we met a "sedan chair" activity in Yeliu. When I visited the Geopark, I happened to meet local fishermen holding a "fishing ceremony". More than a dozen fishing boats are circling the sea, setting off fireworks and praying for a bumper harvest this year. In Taiwan Province Province, Tomb-Sweeping Day, Dragon Boat Festival and Mid-Autumn Festival all have a day off, which is full of traditional festivals.
The "gentleness, courtesy and frugality" in Taiwan Province Province should be a part of our tradition. On the mainland, I have been to some small towns with developed culture and declining due to changes in traffic conditions. For example, Xitang and Wuzhen in the past, Yongding in Fujian, and small counties in Shanxi. People in these places have one thing in common, that is, kindness and courtesy. I feel the same way in Taiwan Province Province.
1952, after the Kuomintang retreated from the mainland, it took "defending Chinese culture", "implementing democratic constitutionalism" and "average social wealth" as the focus of the so-called "rejuvenation base" construction. Among them, "defending China culture" has been paid more and more attention by Taiwan Province authorities because it wants to sweep away the Japanese-style educational and cultural relics on the island of Taiwan Province Province. Of course, all this was carried out under the authoritative regime of "one political party, one leader". After Democratic Progressive Party came to power, the content of "Chinese culture" in school education has decreased, but it still accounts for a considerable proportion. I made a special trip to check the middle school textbooks in Taiwan Province Province. The first, second and third volumes are selected readings of Lun Yu, the fourth and fifth volumes are selected readings of Mencius, and the sixth volume is Lectures on the Doctrine of the Mean in Universities. This set of books basically covers the main contents of the "Four Books".

Contact for a long time, you will feel the superiority of Taiwan Province people. Their sense of superiority is not based on economy. They know that the development speed of mainland China is much higher than that of Taiwan Province Province. Almost every friend in Taiwan Province Province will ask when chatting with you: What's the matter? Watch TV bickering! People in Taiwan Province Province are like this. They can criticize everything.
Professor of National Taiwan University said: "The influence of politics in Taiwan Province Province on society is actually very limited. Politics, for example, is beyond the control of universities. The government is only responsible for funding universities, and nothing else. In Taiwan Province Province, first-class talents are not in politics, but in business and academia. In fact, in a normal society, as long as scholars do their knowledge well and businessmen do their business well, nothing else matters. " There is some pride in his voice.
On other occasions, people in Taiwan Province Province are so "gentle and courteous", women talk awkwardly, men are a little sissy, and civilization is a little "weak". Only in the political forum, the smell of gunpowder is full.
Television in Taiwan Province Province is not good enough. Those over-used variety shows are not new to mainlanders. Therefore, every night, we have to lock in political programs and listen to the angry words of Taiwan Province people on TV.
Fortunately, there are many such programs. Those days in Taiwan Province Province coincided with the renaming of the Chiang Kai-shek Memorial Hall. Four or five channels discussed this topic in detail. Among the invited guests, three quarters opposed the name change, and only one quarter supported it. The opposition was overwhelming, and the deputy chief executive of the Democratic Progressive Party Policy Council was extremely ridiculed and scolded. It's pathetic that the vice CEO can't even grab the words. It is very easy to seize the opportunity to speak. He said that "Jiangmiao" should be changed because it is a building symbolizing "authoritarian politics" and its architectural concept is full of authoritarian spirit.
A representative of public opinion next to him immediately stopped and said, "Nonsense! Isn't the current "Presidential Office" also a building of authoritarian politics? You know, that's the Japanese governor's office. Why does Chen Shui-bian still live there ... "
Democratic Progressive Party, who wears glasses, said, "These authoritarian buildings should be renamed. So the mainstream opinion in the party is to move the capital to Zhongnan ... "
The representative of public opinion interrupted him again: "Pure fart! Move the capital? Move to south-central China? This is obviously for the election. Zhongnan is your ticket warehouse. You put forward this proposal, but for the benefit of Zhongnan ... "
Watching political programs in Taiwan Province Province, in a word, is "Everyone is happy". You can talk about anything and how.
Why not unify: the mainland is not democratic.
It takes less than half an hour to get to the Taiwan Province Strait by car. The waves of the sea are unpredictable, and the sea breeze has a strong smell of the sea. Professor Zeng pointed to the northwest and said that there is Fujian. Looking from a distance, I seem to see something. Of course, this must be an illusion.
It only takes four hours to reach the southernmost tip of Taiwan Province Province. Standing on the edge of Kaohsiung Harbor, there is still an endless and surging vastness in front of us. In this land of Taiwan Province Province, you can't help feeling a kind of unspeakable loneliness. This revolving island is too small and lonely.
Every mainlander and Taiwan Province people sit together and inevitably talk about a topic: "unification or separation".
A scholar from Fu Jen Catholic University claimed to be in a "rational" position, and made 50 comments on the "mainland view" and "Democratic Progressive Party view" respectively. He said that reunification or division should proceed from the perspective of "interests", and mainlanders often think that reunification is "good" and there is no debate. Democratic Progressive Party people think that "independence" stands for "justice", "truth" and "progress". It is realistic for people in Taiwan Province Province to think about the problem. Let them choose reunification or division, and they will only consider one criterion, that is, whether they are good to themselves or not. After reunification, the mainland's economic, cultural and social resources will be used more conveniently and smoothly by Taiwan Province residents, and the cost of cross-strait exchanges will be greatly reduced. The only obstacle is politics. Taiwan Province people's political ideas are so different from those of the mainland. People in Taiwan Province Province believe that democracy is reliable, while other political types are too unstable.
In Kaohsiung, I also talked with drivers who support Democratic Progressive Party. To my surprise, his views are basically the same as those of the professors of the auxiliary university. He said that even if you think about it with your ass, you know that the mainland is so big. If politics is more democratic, it will certainly be attractive to Taiwan Province Province. Why not unify? After all, our ancestors all came from the mainland!
