What martial art is Tae Heel
History
Footwork originally originated in Goguryeo during the Three Kingdoms period of Korea. Mural paintings in the ancient tombs of Sanmurozuka in Goguryeo show that Joseon ancestors began practicing footwork as early as the Goguryeo period. Goguryeo's footwork was later introduced to Silla, which is located in the southeastern part of the Korean Peninsula. The related martial arts were adopted by Silla's Hwalangdo. During the Goryeo Dynasty, footwork was an important training program for the Goryeo army. Some ancient paintings of the Joseon Dynasty show that footwork was popularized during the Joseon Dynasty. People also had spectators to place bets during the games, and because of the money, women could be the object of betting, and their behavior was frowned upon by traditional Confucianism. During the period of Japanese rule on the Korean Peninsula, footwork was banned and almost disappeared. footwork was revived in South Korea in the 1980s. in 1983, South Korea designated footwork as an important intangible cultural heritage to be preserved, and promoted this martial art.
Characteristics
Footwork is based on leg and footwork, and emphasizes the harmony between the hands and feet and the body's physical movements. The practitioner of foot play spreads the palms of the hands flat while gently dancing the arms to interfere with the opponent's attack. Compared with other martial arts, the light and fast movements of foot play have a higher artistic and ornamental value.
Note: Unlike Taekwondo, the Japanese word for Taekwondo is テコンドー
