Is Confucian ethics altruistic?

Altruism is an important concept in western ethics. In recent years, many scholars in China have judged Confucian ethics as altruism. Mr. Wang Haiming not only thinks that altruism is the universal principle of Confucian ethics, but also thinks that Confucianism is the shackles, burdens and obstacles of the rise of China today. In-depth analysis of the thoughts of Confucius, Mencius and other Confucian representatives shows that, unlike Mr. Wang's ethical view of "altruism for oneself" based on the sense of "economic rational man", the Confucian ethical view centered on "establishing oneself and establishing others" contains dual factors of altruism and self-interest, which transcends the humanistic ideal of "being sage inside and king outside" and is essentially a kind of "altruism for oneself" with positive human feelings as its value priority. Confucian ethics, with its profound human foundation, national accumulation and practical wisdom, is still the most important traditional resource for rebuilding China ethics.
