What does Yongkang Xie Nian mean?

What Yongkang people call "Xie Nian" is an activity of offering sacrifices to gods. The priest knelt down to pay homage, praying for God's blessing, a bumper harvest in the coming year, family safety and so on.

It is a very old traditional custom for Yongkang locals to "thank God" on the eve of the Spring Festival. No matter how rich or poor, we should stand tall and stand upright like ancestor worship. The purpose is to sincerely thank Heaven and Earth God for his care in the past year, and also hope that Heaven and Earth God will continue to take care of himself and his family in the new year and make his career successful in the new year.

Although there are many prayers, to put it bluntly, there is a little selfishness, but it is very sincere and unquestionable to thank the God of heaven and earth for his care this year.

The expression of "Xie Nian" has gone bad.

First of all, we should compete with others in time and think that the sooner Xie Nian can get more attention from the God of Heaven and Earth. Therefore, when Xie Nian is around, we should unprincipled, even ridiculously early, sacrifice the rights and interests of others in exchange for a normal rest.

Second, the motive is very despicable. We apply the bribery motives of ordinary people in officialdom and business to the sacred etiquette of "Xie Nian", and use the form of "Xie Nian" to try to show more concern for the world, and regard "Xie Nian" as a naked transaction.

Thirdly, people spend more and more money on ostentation and extravagance through "Xie Nian" and show off their power or wealth in disguise through the etiquette of "Xie Nian".
