1, Tianjin Yangliuqing Woodblock New Year Pictures
Yangliuqing New Year Pictures came into being during the Chongzhen period of Ming Dynasty in China. It inherited the tradition of painting in Song and Yuan Dynasties, absorbed woodcut prints, arts and crafts, reading stools and other forms on the stage of Ming Dynasty drama, and combined woodcut overprint with hand painting to create a unique style of lively, auspicious and touching themes.
On May 20th, 2006, this heritage was approved by the State Council to be included in the first batch of national intangible cultural heritage list.
2. Suzhou Taohuawu Woodblock New Year Pictures
Taohuawu woodblock New Year pictures originated from the woodblock printing technology in Song Dynasty, evolved from Xiu Xiang New Year pictures, and developed into a folk art school in Ming Dynasty. It reached its peak during the reign of Yongzheng and Qianlong in the Qing Dynasty, and produced more than one million high-regret New Year pictures.
Taohuawu Woodblock New Year Pictures inherited the engraving printing technology of Song Dynasty, and adopted artificial coloring and color overprinting. Door paintings, nave and cloth strips are the main forms, and the themes are mostly blessing, exorcism, current affairs and customs, and drama stories.
3. Weifang Yangjiabu Woodblock New Year Pictures
Yangjiabu woodblock New Year pictures in Weifang, Shandong Province rose in the Ming Dynasty, and were all made by hand in the traditional way. In the early stage of development, they were influenced by Yangliuqing New Year pictures and reached their peak in Qing Dynasty. Yangjiabu once had the grand scene of "hundreds of painting shops, thousands of paintings and tens of thousands of plates", and its products were all over the country.
Among them, the largest Dongdashun painting shop has more than 300 sets of paintings, with an annual output of more than one million. Yangjiabu New Year pictures have a wide range of genres, rich imagination, reuse of primary colors, rough lines and simple style.
