Looking for recommendations for fun switch games? Which games make you feel like you're not losing out by getting them?
It's been almost 7 years since the Switch launched and there are tons of great games on it, so let me recommend some fun and interesting games now!
Ranked in order of sales:
1. Mario Kart 8?
Released April '17 53.79 million ? sales Price $300
Mario Kart 8 is a racing racing game in which players operate the Mario series in racing competitions against other Nintendo game characters. Players can use props on the field to enhance their abilities or hinder their opponents. There are four different difficulty levels to choose from, the difference being the speed at which the cars move. The "Mirror Mode" allows you to play the selected track in the opposite direction. This game features a new "Anti-Gravity Mode", where the player can drive through walls or up and down tracks on certain tracks, and in anti-gravity areas, the player's car will accelerate when colliding with other players or obstacles.
As the highest selling game on the Switch at the moment, it's one of the most rewarding games I've found, with plenty of races and up to 8 local players! Even a bunch of friends playing won't feel dull.
Recommendation: 5 out of 5 stars
2! Animal Senpai"
Released March '20 42.21 million sold Price $260
"Gather Up! Animal Samurai is a lifestyle simulation game in which players take on the role of a character who is trying to start a new life as part of Nook Inc.'s No Man's Land Relocation Program.
At the beginning of the game, players will set their character's name, birthday, and appearance, and choose from four islands in the northern and southern hemispheres***, which will have different seasons.
On arriving at No Man's Land, the game character, Beaverk, will have players set up their own tents and ask for help in preparing for a campfire assembly. At the end of the event, Kirk will bring a bill and ask the player to pay it off, and the player can choose between "bell money", which is earned by selling items, and "miles", which is earned by completing goals on the "Nook Mileage Tour". The former is earned by selling items, while the latter is earned by completing goals on the "Nook Mileage Tour". In the game, players can collect branches, stones, jars, and other materials to make many props, and use "equations" to learn how to make more props. These props all have their own functions, such as fishing rods for fishing, and players can use them to catch fish, sea creatures, insects, and fossils, which they can then choose to sell, make furniture/cooking, decorate, or donate to museums.
As a very free-form game, it's suitable for those who like to collect and be free. But the game is slow-paced and not for most people. And the game isn't very good to buy.
Recommendation: two stars
3. Nintendo Star Smash
Released Dec '18 31.09 million sold Price $320
Nintendo Star Smash! In the fast, over-the-top multiplayer party style, the game supports up to four simultaneous team battles, and features a special parameter called "hit points" in addition to the traditional "life count" slots. When the opponent's hit value reaches 100% or more, when you use a must-have technique, accompanied by a close-up of the pep point, the opponent will be blown far away from the field, and this feeling of excitement is really unparalleled.
As a Nintendo house series, Nintendo Smash is great fun to play with multiple friends. Highly recommended if there is a frequent need to play with friends.
Recommendation: four stars
4. The Legend of Zelda Breath of the Wild
Released March '17 29.81 million copies sold Price $300
The Legend of Zelda Breath of the Wilderness is an action-adventure game developed by Nintendo's Planning and Production Division and co-developed by Monolith Soft as the 19th installment in the main Legend of Zelda series, which was released on March 3, 2017 on the Nintendo Switch.?
The game takes place 100 years after the demise of the Kingdom of Helaru, where a cataclysmic disaster once struck and decimated the kingdom, and the protagonist, Link, awakens in the underground ruins, where he traces the uncanny voices and embarks on an adventure.?
The game won TGA Game of the Year, Best Game Design and Best Action-Adventure Game on December 8, 2017? ; GameSpot Game of the Year on December 23, 2017; EDGE Game of the Year on January 5, 2018; GDC Best Game Sound, Best Game Design and Game of the Year on March 24, 2018? ; SXSW Best Gameplay, Best Game Design and Game of the Year on March 18, 2018?
In my personal mind, this is the most playable game on the switch, and doesn't let the fact that it sold a lot of copies affect its ranking in my mind.
Recommendation: five stars
5. Pokémon Sword/Shield
Released November 2019 25.82 Million Sales Price $340
Like the previous games in the main Pokémon series, Sword & Shield's story centers around a young Pokémon trainer traveling the Galel region, training Pokémon to take on other trainers, challenging dojos around the world, and aiming to become a champion. The game introduces around 100 new Pokémon (including multiple regional forms), Extreme Megaization, Wilderness Zones, Pokémon Camping, and more. The two versions of the game are independent of each other, but the plot is essentially the same, and Pokémon can be exchanged with each other to complete the Pokémon Atlas.
Pokémon, along with Zelda and Mario, are Nintendo's three biggest watchlist series. Basically every one of them is well worth buying.
But the plot of this game has taken a step back compared to previous ones, but it's also recommended if it's your first time playing the switch.
