Toponymic Changes in Siming District, Xiamen

Siming District was formed by the integration of the former Kaiyuan District, Siming District and Gulangyu District, under the jurisdiction of 10 street offices and 96 community committees, with an area of 76 square kilometers and a population of about 900,000 people, and has become the political, economic, cultural and financial center of Xiamen City. Siming District thus opened a new chapter in the development of history.
