Source: Tao Te Ching - Lao Tzu

Expanded:

The Tao Te Ching, also known as Lao Tzu, chapters 1 through 37 are called "Tao Te Ching," and the first chapter begins, "Tao can be Tao, but it is not Tao."

"Virtue" in the "Taoist scriptures", at most two or three times, this is called the first chapter. The next chapter is called "The Book of Virtue" (Chapters 38 through 81), and Chapter 38 says something like, "If the upper virtues are not virtuous, then there is virtue; if the lower virtues do not lose their virtue, then there is no virtue." From here on, there is more on "virtue".

Since we talk about "virtue" in "Taoism", it becomes "Tao Te Ching". The "morality" of the Tao Te Ching is different from the so-called benevolence, righteousness, and morality. We often say, "This person is very cultivated, very moral, and often does good deeds," which has little to do with the Tao Te Ching.

Of course, we can't say that there is no relationship at all, because Laozi thought that "virtue" and "goodness" are a bit close to each other, and this "virtue" is after all a good thing, and the "Tao" and the "Tao" are different from the so-called benevolence, righteousness and morality. The "Tao" has nothing to do with what is commonly called "morality".

The Tao Te Ching is based on wisdom, and wisdom is a doorway, no matter how high or low it is, it just depends on whether you can cross it. If you don't know the Tao Te Ching, you are obviously on this side of the doorway and have not yet crossed it, and reading the Tao Te Ching will be very hard and prone to misunderstanding; if you know the Tao Te Ching, it means that you have already crossed the doorway of wisdom, and from now on, you will be enlightened.
