How to raise melon seedlings

First, the preparation of pot soil In order to ensure the normal growth of melon seeds, it is the first step to prepare soil suitable for germination, that is, nutrient soil. Mix decomposed animal manure with furnace ash in a ratio of about 2:3. After mixing, stir, and then screen out the larger particles with a sieve. Disinfect nutrient soil with carbendazim to prevent bacteria from infecting seeds.

Second, germination treatment In order to ensure the germination rate of melon seeds, germination treatment is needed. Expose the seeds in the sun for 1-2 days, then soak them in hot water at 50℃ 15-20 minutes, while keeping stirring. Take it out and disinfect it with diluted potassium permanganate solution to avoid bacterial residue. After disinfection, the seeds are washed, wrapped in wet cloth and placed at 28-30℃ to accelerate germination.

Third, sow until the seeds germinate. Before sowing, water the pot soil to ensure that the substrate is wet. Place the seeds on the surface of the pot soil, and cover with a layer of soil after 1.5 cm. Cover with plastic film to keep it warm and moist. Seedlings can grow in about 5 days, and then the plastic film should be lifted to let the seedlings receive some light.

Fourth, seedling maintenance In the early stage of seedling growth, temperature control is particularly important. The temperature is kept between 20-25℃ during the day and around 8- 10℃ at night. In order to prevent freezing at night, it can be covered with plastic film and not covered during the day. You can also raise the temperature a little, which can accelerate the emergence of seedlings, but it is not appropriate to water at this time.
