The mountainous land is scattered and the traffic is inconvenient, which is not suitable for mechanization. How do you think to develop agriculture?

The hinterland of Dabie Mountain, my hometown, is a very typical mountainous countryside. There is very little land at home, and five people only have one acre of land. Moreover, every piece of land is the size of a palm, and most of them are terraced fields, so it is difficult to use mechanized operations. Up to this year, the only agricultural machinery used in our hometown is the walking plow. Other large-scale combine harvesters, rice transplanters and seeders can't be operated at all in our local mountainous areas.

Moreover, because there are few fields in our mountainous rural areas, we can only grow enough food to feed, and not many people in our family make a living by selling food. As the saying goes, relying on mountains to eat mountains, our local main source of income is to grow tea on the one hand.

Dabie Mountain is located on the 30-degree north latitude line, which is the most suitable area for planting tea. The soil is mainly acidic red soil, which is very suitable for the growth of tea trees. So almost every household has planted many tea trees in front of and behind the house. Ordinary people only rely on tea picking, and their annual income is only about 15000 yuan.

Besides tea, the second source of income is sericulture. Our county is a big sericulture county. Some large sericulture farmers planted mulberry trees in the mountains, and the gross income of a sericulture company reached more than 100,000 yuan. Some small and medium-sized farmers can earn more than 10 thousand yuan a year by raising silkworms.

In addition, we also grow Chinese herbal medicines such as Ganoderma lucidum, Poria cocos and Gastrodia elata locally. With the improvement of strain technology and the application of various new technologies, the planting output of Chinese herbal medicines is also increasing steadily, and the income of farmers is also good. At the same time, our local emerging alpine vegetable industry has gradually developed, and now it has achieved considerable benefits. Coupled with the development of supporting tourism in mountainous areas, it can attract a large number of foreign tourists to experience mountain life in the countryside every year, feel the beauty of natural scenery and bring certain benefits to the people.

From the above analysis, we can see that rural land in mountainous areas is scarce, but there are more forest resources in mountainous areas. Fruit trees, tea, sericulture and aquaculture are all good choices, and tourism can also be developed. According to the local geographical environment, we can develop characteristic industries according to local conditions. Although we can't grow food crops in large quantities, we can also rely on other cash crops to earn income.
