The difference between a shopping mall and a department store

Shopping center is a large indoor shopping place composed of many merchants and brands, which usually includes shops, restaurants, cinemas, entertainment places and so on. Shopping centers are usually managed and maintained by a big owner, and enterprises rent shops to sell goods. Shopping centers focus on providing customers with a full range of shopping, entertainment and leisure experiences, so their area is usually larger than that of department stores.

Department store is a traditional form of store, usually operated by a company, which sells all kinds of goods, including clothing, shoes, household goods and cosmetics. Department stores are usually composed of several departments, and each department has its own professional salespeople who will help customers choose and buy goods. Department stores focus on providing a comprehensive shopping experience, but compared with shopping centers, their scale and types are relatively limited.

Generally speaking, shopping centers and department stores are two main forms of commercial retail. The difference is that shopping malls pay more attention to the comprehensive shopping experience, while department stores focus on providing specialized and high-quality goods.
