At present, for most colleges and universities, the existence of the library is only a teaching auxiliary place, and its management is biased, such as too much emphasis on books as the center and relatively rigid system.
Most of the work of university library managers is still at the level of borrowing and returning, and there is almost no deep learning and work, mainly involved in document development and scientific research activities, and the nature of work is also lacking in challenge and creativity. This concept has been formed for a long time, and some librarians think that library work does not need modern technology at all.
In this way, the talent level of the library can not be improved, and the knowledge level is relatively simple. In addition, there is no competitive pressure in teaching, scientific research and assessment standards, which makes librarians lack knowledge and greatly reduces their work efficiency.
2. The setup system is "book-based".
In the traditional concept, the establishment of university library has become a pyramid-shaped management organization structure. The starting point of this structure is book-centered, and the utilization rate is not high, which is reflected in the thinking mode of closed management, centralized management, static management and single-function service.
The functions of university libraries are divided in detail, most of which are set by the library's interview, cataloging, borrowing, reading and consulting services. Not only that, some libraries are classified according to different readers or different disciplines, languages and publishing time.
For the convenience of management, some libraries simply don't allow readers to bring books in. These systems bring a lot of inconvenience to readers and a great waste to the library itself.
3. The service form is relatively old.
For a long time, both service providers and customers have formed a logistics service model, which is formed by long-term habits.
With the development of high technology in modern society, the development of library has been replaced by new software and hardware environment, and the traditional service form can no longer meet the information needs of users. But most people still don't realize the core service needs of the library, and of course some people don't want to take risks.
At present, most university libraries still have a single free service and closed management based on paper.
