Is it better to build an overhead toilet or backfill a sunken toilet during decoration?

Backfilling technology of bathroom sink (caisson) is a traditional construction technology, but because the bottom of caisson may become a reservoir, which may lead to the risk of water leakage downstairs, it is gradually replaced by caisson overhead technology. There is no doubt that caisson overhead is better than ballast backfill. The reason for this is the following:

Ballast backfill

First of all, look at this structural diagram of ballast backfill, it is not difficult to find that there is only one drainage hole, that is, there is only one floor drain on the toilet floor. So, how to backfill ballast?

Pour the sundries into the caisson of the bathroom, and then waterproof after backfilling. This construction method is called caisson backfill, which has been used up to now, but the technology is slightly improved, and the sewer pipe is fixed with brick or wrapped with brick to avoid cutting the sewer pipe by ballast backfill.

The reason why ballast backfill is still used now is to save costs and reduce ballast freight. It costs hundreds or even thousands of yuan to carry the ballast up and down and send it to the ballast yard. If the construction workers carry away the ballast, they will use gravel and river sand to backfill it, and the project manager will definitely not, because the cost may be higher.

However, after backfilling, the waterproofing is not done well enough, or the foundation sinks for a long time and the waterproof layer tears, so the bath water permeates through the cracks in the bricks and penetrates into the bottom of the caisson through the waterproof tear, forming accumulated water and water, from the damp smell to the moldy tiles, and then to the caisson.

Even if developers do waterproof layer as usual, long-term flooding will damage it, not to mention the uneven quality of waterproof layer made by developers.

Comments: Caisson backfill construction is not only simple to operate, but also reduces the cost, which is obviously beneficial to the construction party and unfavorable to the owner. In the future, the bathroom will always face the risk of water leakage.

Caisson overhead caisson overhead technology does not need to build ballast, but install a drainage pipe at the bottom of caisson, and build a pier to cover the cast-in-place slab to form an overhead structure, that is, the caisson is empty. Why do you want to make an overhead caisson? Want to know why, still have to slowly by me:

Secondary drainage: firstly, drill holes in the horizontal pipe or vertical pipe at the bottom of the caisson, and drain the accumulated water in the caisson.

Bottom leveling: After the sewer pipe is installed, fill the bottom of the sewer pipe with special lime sand, and level it with concrete according to a certain slope to form a funnel-shaped bottom centered on the secondary drainage hole.

Secondary Waterproofing: After the leveling layer at the bottom of caisson is completely dried, brush flexible waterproof material on the leveling layer to prevent the foundation from sinking and tearing the waterproof layer to form the secondary waterproof layer of caisson, and brush rigid waterproof material on the wall.

Cast-in-place overhead: the bottom of caisson is built with red brick, covered with cast-in-place slab and leveled with concrete, with a thickness of about 4 cm.

Primary waterproofing: After the concrete leveling layer on the cast-in-place slab is completely dried, flexible waterproof material is brushed to form the first waterproof layer of caisson, which is the same as the waterproof layer made after ballast backfilling.

Primary drainage: After the waterproofing of the cast-in-place slab is completed, the drainage facilities such as floor drain are equivalent to the floor drain method of ballast backfilling.

Comments: caisson overhead and ballast backfill are completely different in structure, which not only increases the waterproof layer and drainage holes, but also reduces the bearing capacity of buildings and the probability of foundation settlement.

Although there are many steel bars in the cast-in-place slab, drainage pipes and floor drain elbows are used for drainage, and cement is used more. , and the process is complicated and the working hours are high. There is no doubt that the cost is slightly higher than that of ballast backfilling, but the advantage is to prevent water seepage or leakage in the bathroom forever.

To sum up, although the cost of ballast backfilling is cheaper than that of caisson overhead, there is a risk of water leakage in the bathroom. Instead of asking a professional water leakage company to fill the leak in the future, it is better to spend more money at one time to completely eliminate the hidden danger of water leakage.
