Chapter 3 Use and Maintenance of Gasoline Engine

Precautions for Use

1. Adjustments should be made according to the maintenance methods and various regulations described in this manual when in use.

2. For open-loop control gasoline engines to adjust the idle mixture must be used with a carbon monoxide tester. Do not adjust the idle mixture without a carbon monoxide tester.

2. In order to improve the conversion effect of the three-way catalytic converter and to reduce the concentration of CO, HC, and NOX in the exhaust, closed-loop control gasoline engines are equipped with an oxygen sensor to ensure that the air-fuel ratio is close to the theoretical air-fuel ratio. Closed-loop control gasoline engines do not require idle emission adjustment.

4. If the vehicle is equipped with a mobile communication system, such as two-way radio communication devices and cellular telephones, the following precautions should be observed:

(1) The communication antenna should be mounted as far as possible from the ECU and sensors of the vehicle's electronic system.

(2) The antenna feeder should be installed more than 20cm away from the ECU and sensors of the vehicle's electronic system.

(3) Do not twist the antenna feed line with other wiring, and should also be avoided as much as possible to avoid the antenna feed line arrangement and other wiring devices confused.

(4) Do not install a very powerful communication system.

5. Do not open the cover or case of the electronic control unit (ECU) [If you touch the legs of the integrated circuit (IC), the IC may be damaged by static electricity].

6. The ECU cannot be serviced by persons who have not obtained a certificate of competency and who have not undergone specialized training.

7. Check the hoses and wire connectors to make sure they are firmly and correctly connected.

8. Cotter pins, gaskets, O-rings and oil seals should not be reused.

9. Gasoline No. 90 or above (unleaded: SH0041) should be used as specified.

10. In the process of operation, irregularities are found to stop in time for inspection.
