How to preserve chestnut?

Chestnut is delicious, but it is difficult to store, because chestnut fruit is afraid of dryness, water, heat and freezing during storage. If you are not careful during storage, it will rot. This paper introduces several traditional preservation methods of chestnut commonly used by people for reference.

1, sand storage method: first lay a layer of straw on the cool indoor floor, and then lay sand about 6 cm thick. The humidity of the sand should be rubbed by hand, and it is advisable to put it down, and then pile it on the sand alternately according to a layer of chestnut fruit and a layer of sand (each layer is 3-6 cm thick). After this accumulation, spread 6-8 cm of wet sand on it and cover it with straw. It is required to check the rotation once every half month. If the sand is dry, you can spray water properly. Chestnuts stored in this way can be kept fresh for about 4 months.

2. storage method of sawdust: select fresh sawdust with water content of about 30-35%, mix it with chestnut 1: 1, and pour it into a brick box surrounded by chestnut in a ventilated and cool room in advance (the inside of the box should be covered with a layer of sawdust with a thickness of 4-5 cm first), and then cover it with sawdust of about 9 cm. During storage, indoor temperature, humidity, ventilation conditions and chestnut situation in the box should be checked frequently. If the temperature is too high and the humidity is too high, it should be ventilated in time, and the rotten fruit should be removed in time to prevent diffusion.

3. Tanks and jars storage method: Put the chestnut fruit into a dry and clean jar or narrow jar (never use a jar or jar full of wine). When it is 80% full, put straw in the jar (altar), and then turn the jar (altar) upside down and put it on the board or dry ground. This storage method is suitable for a small amount of chestnuts and can keep fresh until the Spring Festival.

4. Dry storage or hanging storage method: put the chestnut fruit in boiling water for 5 minutes or soak it in clear water for 2-3 days, take it out and dry it, then put it in a ventilated container (basket, mesh bag or perforated plastic bag) and dry it. This method can be stored for a long time, but the disadvantage is that the storage time is too long, the chestnut loses more water and the flavor is slightly inferior to that of fresh chestnut.
