Traditional retail is basically a door-to-door retail model. In the past, the concept of retailing was essentially the same. After a location was chosen and a store opened, it was door-to-door. And, of course, it attracted customers by doing a good job with its merchandise, service and reputation. But whether it attracts customers may be an open question. In the past, customers were external to the business and factors beyond the control of the business, including from the retail business in the era of commodity shortages.
