Zhao Jilong's Kung Fu Questions and Answers

The following are some excerpts from Zhao Jilong's conversations in Weibo and interviews.

1 Q: Teacher Zhao, what do you think of Bruce Lee? What does Bruce Lee's untimely death show?

A: Bruce Lee is one of the greatest disseminators in the cultural communication of China Wushu culture to the world, and his contribution is indelible. He is not only a great communicator, but also a great practitioner. He has the courage to try, break the stereotypes and sects, and develop many scientific training theories and methods, which are worthy of our future generations' praise and study.

As for Bruce Lee's master's untimely death, I think there are several reasons: the master never set foot on the mainland before his death, and he did not intersect with the domestic boxing masters in the mainland. Living alone overseas, he combined the advantages of many rigid foreign schools and created a more rigid Jeet Kune Do. Throughout the master's original works, there is no mention of internal cultivation, which shows that the master knows nothing about the core content of China's Neijia Boxing. He practiced external skills too much for many years, and his body will eventually run out of oil because he was divorced from internal skills, causing serious problems and dying young, which is very regrettable. This has sounded the alarm for the vast number of martial arts lovers. I suggest that friends who practice foreign boxing should combine work and rest, practice three points and seven points, and do more physical and mental training AIDS such as swimming and yoga, instead of overworking and damaging their bodies.

Q: According to Bruce Lee's theory, the impossible is the law, the infinite is the limit, and all good moves are used. Is this correct?

A: For beginners or people who want to eat fast food, Master Bruce Lee's theory is correct. Measures that can produce practical results are good measures. As long as you can learn, go and learn.

But for people with certain cultivation, the situation is just the opposite. For example, the moves of internal boxing can be used by people with internal force, and even if people without internal force are muscular, their strength can't be used in college because they can't exert their strength. And the power is divided into yin and yang. An overly masculine constitution cannot master the power of femininity, and vice versa.

The so-called "wish" is the advanced wisdom of our ancestors. Only by giving up can you gain, and only by giving up can you improve. Otherwise, everything will be easy, and in the end, I can't practice foreign boxing well, and I can't practice domestic boxing well. It's a waste of effort, or I'll get sick in the end. Why bother?

Q: Teacher Zhao, is the actual combat value of Wushu less than the life value?

A: Yes. Nowadays, with the proliferation of firearms, the actual combat value of Wushu is less than before. However, the value of Wushu must be tested in actual combat. Without inspection, it is difficult to identify the authenticity of inheritance. Some teachers who are related to celebrities and have no real material are not only useless but also harmful. Simple health care can't be tested. If I tell you that you can live to be 90 every day, how can you verify my words? Actual combat is the only criterion to test the authenticity of Wushu.

Q: Miss Zhao, China boxers have never achieved good results in international competitions. Why?

A: Actually, it is not. My good friends Kang En and Yan Xu have achieved good results in many international competitions. At present, I am committed to combining the technical training of internal boxing with the fighting training of modern boxers, with a view to producing more great boxers in China in the next few years.

Q: Teacher Zhao, is actual martial arts fighting the same as fighting competition?

A: As a participant and educator in the martial arts fighting competition (Sanda), this issue must be clear. There are no rules in actual combat, but there are rules in martial arts competitions, with many forbidden parts and scoring rules. Long-term professional training will lead players to neglect defense in some physical key points. Therefore, the actual combat of martial arts is not equal to the fighting competition, but the fighting competition has certain practicability.

Q: Teacher Zhao, how to test the actual martial arts?

A: Our ancestors invented three ancient inspection methods, which are still very scientific until now.

1. Learn moves, that is, just stop, two people only make moves, and no force is allowed. There is no forbidden part. With points and points, the more points you get, the more you win. It is very safe and entertaining. There are similar training methods in the popular Israeli special forces combat.

2. Learn from each other. There are two main methods: (1) Two people compete with each other for internal force by hand: the two arms overlap, exposing the arms, and are not allowed to rotate or unload (dissolve). Both sides need to play with real strength and win with good skills. This kind of fighting is more risky than fighting moves. Two people fight to the death, but they have no strength and even hurt their bones. (2) The two stood still, punching and kicking each other (fighting). Whoever gives up first will lose. This kind of fighting is also more risky than fighting moves. Two people fight to the death, and both lose. Skill is the greatest feature of China's boxing, and some of its training methods have much in common with the "core training" courses developed by western countries in recent years with high-tech methods.

3. Duel. There are no restrictions on skills and moves at this time. It is characterized by easy injury and even death.

Q: I want to learn martial arts. Do you suggest I learn foreign boxing or domestic boxing?

A: It depends on the purpose of learning martial arts. If you want to be an excellent boxer just for the sake of fitness, foreign boxing is more suitable. I recommend Sanda, Muay Thai, Israeli military and police fighting and so on. They are simple and quick, with more boxing halls and fewer fakes. It is suggested to choose a nearby martial arts school for study.

If you not only want to learn actual combat, but also want to practice martial arts as a part of your life, to be healthy all your life, to be tough when you are old, to talk with a famous style, and even to become a fighter with the mission of promoting martial arts, you must practice internal boxing as soon as possible. Be sure to find a reliable teacher first. It depends on chance, and it won't take much time to spend a few years. After you find it, you should endure loneliness, practice basic skills for several years, and keep learning from others after you have the ability. At the same time, we should humbly ask the foreign fist who often carries out confrontation training to learn the time difference and distance sense of the foreign fist. Because there is no sense of time difference and distance, it is useless to hit people with strong skills. Even I've never seen anyone who only hurts people by palm wind.

8 Q: What kind of teacher is a reliable teacher?

Answer: 1. Examine its ability. Many teachers have no real biographies or extraordinary skills. Even if you are famous, you can't learn such kung fu, otherwise it will waste time and even be harmful to your body and mind. It should be tested from two aspects: learning moves and learning skills, especially the skills part. 2. Investigate its descendants. Some teachers can practice or not, and they can't get to the point, which makes it difficult for people to understand and learn when they enter the door. Therefore, it is necessary to examine its ability to pass on people before getting started.

Q: There is no strongest fist, only the strongest man. This movie line seems to be sought after by many people, but what I want to say is that this proposition is absolutely wrong! Wushu is an art, which is created by different people in different regions, different environments, according to different needs and with different wisdom. Therefore, tens of thousands of kinds of boxing in the world naturally have to be divided into high and low, strong and weak, and three or six. @ Zhao Jilong, can you agree?

A: I agree. Wushu is for actual combat. Either cause people's disability (military police), or fight against rules (fighting competition), or control people not to hurt people (acupuncture and capture), or defend themselves (self-defense), or have fun (fighters and pushers). Health preservation and performance are by-products, and we can't put the cart before the horse, what's more, many boxing methods are harmful to our health. There are three, six, nine and so on. Practitioners should be careful!

10 q: what do you think of the martial arts champion who was hacked to death with a kitchen knife a while ago?

A: I have answered this question many times. That martial arts champion is a routine champion, and the routine competition has nothing to do with actual combat ability. If this Wushu champion is a Sanda champion, I believe that he will never be so easily hit by ordinary people by using his footwork and sense of distance. If you are an authentic family boxer who is proficient in equipment and pays attention to actual combat, the possibility of successful counterattack is also great.

1 1 q: teacher, I want to learn internal boxing. what kind of boxing do you recommend?

A: Just for health, I recommend yoga, swimming and jogging. These kinds of exercises are relatively easy to learn, with obvious effects and are not easy to make mistakes. Of course, sitting and standing piles are also good methods. If you can't practice Neijia Boxing well, it will damage your health, and the loss will outweigh the gain. If there is no master, don't try it easily.

12 q: teacher, is the routine meaningful in actual combat?

A: Hardly, except for one case, that is, if you make a move in the routine and practice it for tens of thousands of times, you can play a role in actual combat. Note that you can't practice the next move unless you practice it for tens of thousands of times. On the other hand, if you spend a lot of time practicing the whole set of long routines, even if you practice it 20 times a day, because the time of a single practice is too short, you may never practice a trick in your life, so it is meaningless.

13 q: although martial arts is called martial arts, if only it is regarded as martial arts, fighters will be preoccupied with winning or losing. Wushu is life, communication with yourself or your opponent. Through surgery, energy or internal transformation can be achieved. Wushu is a belief and a lifelong practice. Do you agree?

A: If Wushu loses communication, it will become a castle in the air. A fighter can't make progress if he doesn't care about winning or losing. Communication is important, but not the only one. Winning or losing is very important, but practice is more important. Agreed.

14 q: what are the problems of students in Wushu colleges?

A: Wushu students have a high level of foreign language and computer skills, but they don't know what it means to grasp the ground with their toes, what it means to concentrate all their strength on one point, and how to practice "Kung Fu". The tedious routines of cheating money written by predecessors are often dozens or even hundreds of styles, which are practiced with relish. It's called martial arts, but it's actually "dancing". This kind of education is the grave of martial arts.

15 q: did the Yan Fang incident prove that those who beat Tai Ji Chuan were liars? Does Tai Chi have any practical value?

A: You can't deny a pot of soup just because of a piece of meat. Tai Ji Chuan was originally created by gathering the advanced wisdom of the ancients. Although the market is full of physical injuries and fancy and useless routines, I always believe in my heart that the real Tai Ji Chuan must be practical and powerful. Many people say that Tai Chi has long been lost. I don't accept such a pessimistic argument. I firmly believe that it still exists, and I hope to see the reappearance of this Tai Chi as soon as possible and fulfill my lifelong wish.

16 q: teacher, you must have been exposed to many foreign energy training methods when you worked in the Australian College of Naturopathic Medicine. What mainstream training methods are popular abroad now? What are the similarities between them and China's energy training?

A: They all need to go through meditation. They all believe in the existence of cosmic energy. They all pay attention to guiding energy to meridians (or chakras). After a period of correct practice, people's energy will increase obviously.

Different training methods and emphases are adopted because of different training purposes, and various schools of thought coexist at home and abroad. The most interesting thing is that there are many similarities between a single foreign Sect and a single domestic Sect, which can correspond one by one. For example, the light devil is against Taoism in China, the dark devil is against shaman in China, Indian yoga is against meditation in China, African witchcraft is against Miao witchcraft, and northern Indian Tuquan (an unknown boxing handed down secretly from Punjab) is against Neijia Boxing in China.

17 q: teacher, do you believe in the existence of meridians? Can science prove its existence?

A: I personally believe it, but modern science is not enough to prove the existence of meridians. This phenomenon is very interesting. For example, many people think that brain waves existed for more than 200 years before they were scientifically proved. These people were laughed at by many people at that time, but it was not until the first electroencephalograph came out 200 years later that brain waves really existed. Those original believers became the embodiment of wisdom, and the cynicism of skeptics became redundant. Science and technology are improving every day. I believe that in the near or long future, meridians will be scientifically proved. But at present, it is fair to say that science can neither prove the existence of meridians nor deny their existence.

18 q: teacher, can acupuncture prove the existence of meridians?

A: As a science and engineering man, I think strictly speaking, acupuncture can only prove the existence of acupoints. At most, it can prove the existence of acupoints, but not the existence of meridians. But we can't deny the existence of meridians. To prove meridians scientifically and thoroughly, we have to wait for the development of science and the appearance of meridian instrument.

19 q: teacher, when you opened a martial arts school in Australia, you studied many foreign martial arts schools. What kind of boxing is popular abroad now? What are their characteristics?

A: Taekwondo is the most popular boxing sport abroad. It has four advantages. 1. This is an Olympic event. 2. Its stage system and routine (style) are scientifically designed, well organized and addictive. 3. The protective gear is perfect, and the risk of confrontation training is small. 4. The group performance is wonderful. However, this kind of boxing is not practical because it pays too much attention to points and ignores lethality training and has a single technique.

Then there is karate, which is more technical than taekwondo and closer to actual combat. The teaching process is permeated with rich Japanese culture. Stages and routines are also scientifically designed, which is also conducive to group performances.

There are also many muay Thai halls. Because Muay Thai is more lethal than karate, it is more conducive to quick success and instant benefit, and there are many fans.

Because of its irregularity, Israeli special forces are closest to actual combat, which is conducive to quick success and instant benefit. This course has been heating up overseas in recent years.

With the rise of UFC in the United States, MMA mixed fighting boxing hall has become more and more popular in recent years.

As the immigration tide in Guangdong was earlier than that in the north, the southern boxing styles in China, such as Wing Chun Boxing, Cai Lifo and Baihe Boxing, also occupied a certain overseas market share.

Since the 1990s, northerners in China have also brought Shaolin Boxing, Tongguan Boxing, Fenxuan Boxing, Baji Boxing, Xingyi Boxing, Baguazhang Boxing, Dacheng Boxing, Mantis Boxing and Fanshi Boxing overseas, occupying a considerable market share.

In addition, there are a few Japanese kendo halls and judo halls. There are also several Jeet Kune Do gymnasiums in Bruce Lee.

In Chinese-inhabited parks, Tai Ji Chuan, Baduanjin and other health care programs are becoming more and more common, with a certain number of elderly enthusiasts.

You can also see Capola in the seaside park on weekends. This is a traditional Brazilian martial art similar to dancing. The two fed each other with various wonderful movements, while the audience sang and danced in a circle and enjoyed themselves.

Q: Teacher, what is the main training content of MMA? Is MMA the closest martial art to actual combat?

A: The main training contents of MMA are Muay Thai and Gabassi Jiu Jitsu. The combination of these two boxing methods can produce excellent MMA masters and present wonderful competitions for everyone. However, it should be noted that this kind of boxing, especially the ground fighting part, is difficult to play a role in actual combat (such as skinny, even the streets are full of glass fragments). Moreover, because there are many forbidden parts in its rules, the professional boxers who have been trained for a long time have neglected the prevention of key parts such as fingers, eyes, throat, spine and crotch. This will lead to some special risks in hand-to-hand combat. Finally, because all MMA moves are designed for one-on-one confrontation, if you encounter one-to-many scenes in actual combat, you will be completely at a loss. It is emphasized that fighting competition has certain practicality, but fighting competition is not equal to actual combat.

2 1 Q: Teacher, the comprehensive business situation of China Wushu School abroad is not as good as that of Taekwondo and Karate. What do you think is the reason?

A: There are many martial arts schools in China, but none of them has developed a complete teaching system for scientific reproduction and promotion, and there is no reasonable evaluation system like Taekwondo to keep students' interest, which leads to different teaching methods adopted by various martial arts schools. The business of China Wushu School depends mainly on the ability and personal charm of the owner. Pathetic.

Q: Teacher, what do you think is the most important thing in the development of Wushu in China?

A: 1 Get rid of the false and keep the true, and abandon all the flashy and harmful actions. Combining the skills of western fighting and internal boxing, aiming at actual combat and health preservation, an international scientific teaching system similar to Taekwondo is designed, which is feasible and easy to copy. 3. Design a quantifiable market segmentation evaluation system. Learn Taekwondo and unify all external manifestations such as color, level, etiquette and appellation. Combine modern fashion elements to improve the interest and fashion of the course and attract young people to join the ranks of Wushu. 6. From the government to the media, increase publicity.

Q: Teacher, do you think your road to Dragon Boxing can meet the above standards?

A: The first three items have been completed and the last three items are in progress.

Q: Teacher, you trained the vice president's bodyguard in South Sudan, and also coached the fighting training of Snow Leopard Commandos in China. What are the mainstream fighting trainings of the armies of various countries now?

A: There are mainly Military Boxing, Enemy Capture Boxing and China Sanda in China.

Japan is dominated by karate and judo. Thailand is dominated by Muay Thai.

Russia is dominated by three treasures (wrestling).

Europe is dominated by free fighting. In recent years, some countries, such as German special forces, began to absorb China's classical boxing. What the United States practices is a kind of fighting skill similar to MMA, which takes the advantages of various factions. In recent years, Israeli military and police fighting is the most popular, using KAPAP or KRAV MAGA.

Q: Teacher, you have proved that the attack power and defense power of China's authentic internal boxing masters are obviously higher than that of professional boxers. Is it because of this that we can draw a conclusion that a master of internal boxing can easily defeat modern fighters?

A: Otherwise. When it comes to attack power, fighters at home are like cannons, while fighters are like pistols. No matter how powerful the heavy artillery is, it is useless to miss it. For pistol shooters, small caliber pistols can defeat the enemy as long as they are accurate. When it comes to defense, masters of internal boxing are like brick walls, and boxers are like wooden walls. Although the brick wall is hard, it is finally broken after repeated hammering; Although the wooden wall is weak, it can be preserved even if the hammer misses.

Take the car as an analogy. The superb skills of family boxers are like super sports cars, with strong horsepower and solid sheet metal; Fighting athletes have an excellent sense of distance and opportunity in daily training, just like a skilled professional racing driver. Can a bad driver drive a Ferrari and beat Passat driven by a professional racing driver in complicated road conditions? So who is the master of internal boxing who has never discussed it with others, and who is the battle-hardened boxing veteran?

The ideal state is of course a top driver driving a Ferrari, which will be the perfect combination. Therefore, if we talk about actual combat, we need to practice skills, and we need to practice a sense of distance and opportunity, both of which are indispensable. So when it comes to actual combat, if one of the two must be abandoned, it is better to abandon skills.

Q: Teacher Zhao, the temperament and modesty of China internal boxing martial artists are quite different from the aggressive and aggressive style of external boxing fighters. What is the reason?

A: First of all, they have different pursuits. Foreign boxers emphasize winning the game. They define themselves as soldiers, and everything is to defeat their opponents. In order to defeat their opponents and simply improve their combat effectiveness, they often carry out brutal training that is beyond their physical limits, extremely stressful and harmful to their health, and because of years of competition, they have accumulated a lot of pain, which affects their emotions and makes them impulsive and irritable. In fact, many foreign boxers are as kind as we are, and we should be considerate of them.

China's folk boxing practitioners first emphasize personal accomplishment. They define themselves as an upright person, a person who is good at eliminating violence and doing just things. Under this premise, they do not regard anyone as an enemy, but insist on their own training every day, know themselves and surpass themselves. They always maintain a fair and peaceful attitude towards themselves and others, and are confident and fearless in their own abilities and perseverance through the powerful skills accumulated through long-term training. Always keep a cheerful attitude and enjoy the internal force cultivated by your mood in a healthy way, which makes you energetic, healthy and happy, and at the same time exudes a kind of self-confidence from the inside out. This self-confidence can infect others and spread the seeds of justice and health everywhere. Of course, these people also have episodes, especially when the country, the nation and others are bullied.
