There is a beautiful legend about hydrangea in Zhuangxiang. It is said that more than 800 years ago, a poor family lived in a small village under the ancient town of Jiuzhou in Jingxi County. Adi, the son of a poor family, fell in love with Axiu, a girl from a neighboring village.

Axiu is beautiful and kind, and deeply loves her honest, hardworking and brave brother. One spring, when Axiu was at the fair, he was attracted by a rich and powerful villain in the town. He wanted to marry Axiu. Axiu threatened to die, but he refused.

When the rogue learned that Axiu loved his younger brother in the neighboring village deeply, he rolled his eyes and made a plan to make Axiu give up. He bribed the government, put Adi in a dungeon on trumped-up charges, and sentenced him to death, awaiting trial in autumn. When Axiu heard the news, it was like a bolt from the blue. He cried all day in Lacrimosa.

After Axiu cried blind, Axiu started sewing hydrangeas stitch by stitch for Adi, who will be beheaded in autumn. The needle pierced his hand and blood flowed to the hydrangea. After being soaked in blood, the flowers on the hydrangea become brighter, the leaves become greener and the birds become more vivid. After 998 1 day, the hydrangea filled with Axiu's deep love for Adi and soaked with Axiu's blood was made.

In Axiu, he sold his jewelry and bribed the jailer. Accompanied by his family, he touched Adi, who was suffering from extreme torture, in a dark and humid dungeon. In desperation, Axiu fumbled for a hydrangea and put it around Adi's neck. At this moment, I saw a light. Axiu, Adi and his family drifted to the foot of a beautiful and rich mountain, far away from the young delinquents.

Later, Axiu and Adi got married, gave birth to a son and a daughter, and lived a happy life with their hardworking hands. From one word to ten words, slowly, hydrangea has become the mascot of the people in Zhuangxiang and the token of love of the young men and women in Zhuangxiang. Later, there were folk activities such as lion throwing hydrangea and rolling hydrangea.

Nowadays, throwing hydrangea is still a traditional sport that Zhuang people love to see and hear. Its history can be traced back to more than two thousand years ago. At that time, it was an ancient musical instrument made of bronze-"Feituo", which was mostly used for fighting and hunting. Later, Feituo gradually developed into the present embroidered cloth bag, that is, hydrangea. People often throw at each other after meals for entertainment and communication.

Now it has evolved into a way for young Zhuang men and women to express their love. Song Zhu Fu's "Laughter in the Stream" said: "Within a few days, men and women in the wild were divided into two pairs of friends, each with five-colored beans and millet, and they threw each other back and forth."

Zhuang nationality hydrangea

Hydrangea is a unique folk custom of Zhuang nationality in Guangxi. It is the symbol and mascot of Zhuang nationality in Guangxi. It is one of the most distinctive tourist handicrafts in Guangxi. It was originally the token of love between young men and women of Zhuang nationality.

Guangxi hydrangea is mainly red, yellow and green. Most hydrangeas are 12 petals, and each petal is embroidered with various mascots, such as plum, orchid, chrysanthemum, bamboo and other flower patterns or Chun Yan, dragon and phoenix.

Guangxi hydrangea, also known as "heap embroidery hydrangea", is made by old artists using the ancient and complicated embroidery process of "heap embroidery". Its unique structure, exquisite materials, and all hand-made, exquisite workmanship, bright colors, is the world's most exquisite hydrangea. Hydrangea generally adopts single-thread embroidery, and various patterns are embroidered on the fabric of petals. The pattern on the petal fabric is relatively flat, the lines and colors are picturesque, and the embroidery method and technology are relatively simple. And the "heap embroidery hydrangea" with double-thread embroidery method has more exquisite graphics and extremely complicated patterns, and the things outlined are lifelike and full of three-dimensional sense, such as fresh things wanting to come out of generate and counting the best hydrangeas.

The earliest recorded hydrangea in Guangxi contains crop seeds such as soybean, cotton seed or grain, which not only makes hydrangea have a certain weight and easy to throw, but also has a deeper meaning, that is, hydrangea is an "auspicious thing". Because Zhuang is a traditional rice-growing nation, they are very concerned about the annual harvest of crops. Therefore, in all kinds of rituals of offering sacrifices and praying for the New Year, crop seeds, sowing, farming and other forms of production and labor are often the themes of expression. For example, when building a new house in the rural areas of Zhuang nationality, sprinkle some whole grains at the four corners of the wall base; When erecting a girder, two strings of ears of grain should be hung on the girder; Old people usually send some polished rice as gifts on their birthdays. These phenomena all symbolize growth, richness, prosperity and peace. Hydrangea throwing is held during the Spring Festival and the "March 3" song festival every year, which is the spring sowing season. Hydrangeas are full of grain seeds, which means "a bumper harvest of grains" in a year. At the same time, hydrangea, as a love thing for young men and women, means "fertility prosperity".

Today, the outstanding sons and daughters of the Zhuang nationality continue to inject new vitality into the ancient art of hydrangea, making it glow again in the new era. Guangxi once made oversized hydrangeas for the Japanese National Museum for Nationalities, and at the same time made oversized hydrangeas with diameters of1.97m and 2m respectively to welcome the return of Hong Kong and Macao. In order to celebrate the success of the Olympic bid, a super-large hydrangea with a diameter of 2.2 meters was made; In order to welcome the success of the China-ASEAN Expo, an oversized hydrangea with a diameter of more than 2 meters was made.
